So my topic this time is back stories. In my random little stories that I produce, I always tend to omit any back story that will explain the situation. While that sometimes works in novels, I know that jumping into the story without proper explanations along the way can get confusing for the reader. Seems my ability to not have any background is a talent in itself as it's much harder that you would think. It's difficult to resist the urge to explain everything and to get off track to make the writing good. That isn't the point of my little drabbles though. No, they are meant to get an idea or scenario into writing as fast as possible. If not, I'll forget the idea or moral that I have playing out in my head (and it often takes days for me to prefect them in my mind). So as you read, please appreciate the wonderful job I did not not providing any excess information! XD It features my generic names of Ashley and Mathew.
Things just kept getting weirder and weirder that day. After being called to the leader’s office Mathew learned the surprising story of Ashley. Apparently she had moved to the small town without anyone noticing her and found some way to assimilate without arousing suspicion. How she had managed to go undetected for so long was a mystery, but now that she had been identified as a possible threat due to her suspicious appearance, he had been ordered to investigate.
Mathew paused outside of her apartment door, checking for any signs of traps as his training had taught him. Seeing it was safe, he entered the door, surprised to find it unlocked. What was even more surprising was the condition of the cheap living place. For such a shabby location, the interior was well cared for and clean. It was almost to clean, like no one lived there and it was only for show. After checking the kitchen he started down the small hallway tot he right.
He peered down the hall, almost expecting his target to leap from the shadows. Every door was open, reveling empty rooms, except the last door on the left. He knew she had to be there, and he pulled out his knife, ready to attack. As he opened the door he couldn’t help but let out a surprised gasp.
“What the hell?” The room before him was the exact opposite of the rest of the apartment. Instead of the pristine neatness that made the girl’s home look almost un-lived in, the bedroom was completely trashed, a testimony of some great struggle. The truly heart stopping thing, though, was the blood smeared across the walls and floor. There was too much for just one person. Unless that person is dead.
Mathew edged into the room, knife still at the ready, checking it for bodies or any evidence as to what had occurred. Finding it empty, he put the blade away and began to check the room more thoroughly. It appeared that his wasn't the only group to notice the new addition to the town. Somebody had wanted her dead, meaning that she could be as dangerous as the leader had feared. The question was, had she gotten away?
He began sifting through the debris, looking for anything that seemed wrong for a young teen to own. From what he could tell, someone had taken all the contents of her draws out and dumped them on the floor. Searing for something perhaps? Maybe he was interrupted by her and that was when the struggle ensued. Looking into the corner he noticed a pile of clothes, oddly neat in the chaos of the room but soaked in blood. They might have belonged to the attacker so he needed to take them, but something wasn't right about them.
Approcahing carefully, he nudged the pile carefully with the toe of his boot. His mind couldn't believe what he was feeling when his foot came in contact with something solid. Mathew simply stared until the realization hit him that someone was wearing the clothes. He dropped to his knees, pulling back the cloth to reveal the 17 year old girl he had been looking for. She was hurt and bleeding, gashes covering most of her body, but she was still alive.
Picking her up, he quickly exited the apartment wile being careful not to be seen. It was his job to be invisible, so he climbed to the rooftop and ran to the hospital from there. Hopefully he could make it in time to save the mysterious girl from death.
Haha, so it looks like I seem to have a ninja-ish setting? (due to the references to 'training' and the jumping on rooftops thing) and the time period could be anything (cause I'm jsut that talented ;D) So that's just a little thing that came to me one day for no reason and I thought I'd write it out. It has a lot of potential for change, meaning that it could be inserted as a scene for any story... (maybe even one of my own)
Yay! XD
