Hawaii Update

I know it's a little late... But better late than never. Plus I feel that if I postpone writing about my trip any longer I'll never do it. x_X

So here we go!

Wait, first let me say that I'm only talking about a few highlights... Not really what we did day to day 'cause that would be boring and it'd take forever. So these are a few things that I found amusing during my trip and I want to remember them here. :D

I think the first thing I wanted to talk about was... Oh right! Hahaha. Well we were checked into our first hotel/condo place and were going up in the elevator to our room. After we got into the elevator, two Japanese guys joined us to go to their room [with surfboards too]. Once they got off and out of ear-shot, my sister goes, "Look Mel, your type: foreign." ^-^; I was immediately shocked that she said that, so I simply replied, "What?" to which she responded with, "Or Japanese." So yea kind of embarrassing, and thank goodness they didn't hear [although I don't think they would have understood anyways...] but I found it funny nonetheless hahaha.

Second, when we went out to eat dinner at this small ramen shop/place, we had to wait for a table and therefore sat down in a few of the chairs for waiting customers. A Japanese family was leaving after finishing their meal, and they had children with them! My mom and sister were chuckling because apparently one child fell asleep during dinner and had yet to wake up. So the family wakes him up and they walk across the room to the door and I see the little boy right in front of me, still a little sleepy and in this totally cute outfit which was obviously Japanese. XD He was soo cute I instantly thought that he could be a JE boy one day in the future. <3 He had big pouty lips, round eyes and a head of cute styled hair. Hehe he reminded me of one of the Johnny's and I think that's why I thought he could be one.

Hmm do I remember the next thing off the top of my head?? I think I'm going to be lazy and go check my list I made. [Yes, I made a list so that I would remember everything ^-^;] Oh yes, this doesn't have to do with guys...but still Japanese themed. XD Rather than Matsumoto's shaved ice one day we decided to check out this other place that my sister recommended. It was a small shop, but the menu was amazing! There were the normal flavors, but the things you could add sounded so tempting. XD The popular homemade addition was mochiballs, which were tiny and yummy. ^-^ But, I was looking at all the choices to make sure I didn't miss anything good when I saw number 17. Shaved ice with mochiballs, condensed milk, and pudding. Ahhh it was soo good. It was complete with two mounds of pudding, which I don't know if it was homemade, but it was creamy and delicious. It really made me happy because I wanted to see what Japanese pudding really tasted like [thank My Boss My Hero for that] and I couldn't find it anywhere in the grocery stores. So that made my day. :D

Another major highlight was at our second hotel/condo, which had great tv for a hotel. Only thing is that I discovered the Hawaiian Japanese channel a little late. But! We did get to watch a game show on Friday night. It was amazing because basically it was a game show where there are various challenges and the contestants are trying to complete them for $10,000. The first one that caught our attention was one where they had to taste a dish and name all twenty ingredients in that dish. So they brought in chefs and food television hosts and they still didn't get it. It was hard. The closest guy was missing two before he got out with two wrong answers. Then they had other things like playing a song on a giant floor piano and blowing through a straw to move a ping pong ball through an obstacle course. They also had a dodgeball game [Japanese style] and the best one of all: making children under 4 go grocery shopping. They had to pick up three items and could only go back for help from their parent once. They were also timed but I forget the limit. The first boy did the best right off I think. He was so energetic and when he lost he was sooo cute! He kept saying, "I won't cry" while at the same time giving this face on the verge of tears. XD I don't really remember the other ones, only the little girl who seemed a little slow [she couldn't repeat the items] and would have won if she got more money out faster or remembered the name of the steak. [They way little children say meat names is too kawaii! "Shabu-shabu" and "suteki."]

Ok ok last quick thing and then I'm going because this is wayyy longer than I thought it would be. When we were at the airport to go back home I saw several JAL planes that were obviously meant to take back all the Japanese tourists. I was so tempted to sneak on if only to see all the tourists and be among native speakers. :D One day I will be on a plane that large [two levels!] and traveling that far. I can't wait! So you notice that all of my "highlights" are somehow related to Japanese things... I can't help it. There were a lot of sights we saw, but I don't remember the names anyways and yea.... Ok gotta go bye!
