S.H.I.E.L.D. revisited...

Sep 26, 2013 21:37

I watched Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. again tonight, this time with Pim and . And I think I may have fallen in love with it this time. Okay, I still don't like Maria Hill's hair.

Because I am pretty much madly in love with her anyway, it's hard to adjust.

Now that that is off my chest...

A look at more details... )

Skye's looks are the one I find really generic, like she would fit right in with this gen's 90210. I couldn't understand half the dialogue from Fitz and Simmons. I liked coulson, J. August Richards and Ron Glass and the woman with the black hair and the Asian American one - I don't know anyone's names yet.

We'll see. It felt incredibly light to me - but I'm sure Joss was told or gleaned not to do anything with depth, just to bring people into the story fold with fast action.

These shows all feel the same to me, slightly incoherent. M

Isn't most of the heavy lifting being done by Joss' brother and his sister-in-law?

Could you explain? Who are they? I don't know any of the behind-the-scenes action.

So is James implying that they're doing most of the work and Joss Whedon's influence will be minimized? Because I thought the first episode simply shrieked Whedon's style every moment.

This first episode was very light - though I suspect the tone will be something like that of Firefly, light with dark nuances. I loved the Fitz/Simmons dialogue and I hope it doesn't change - part of its charm is that it wasn't entirely coherent, or meant to be understood. The woman with the black hair? - you may mean Maria Hill, who is a favourite of mine in the comics, but the TV version seems lightweight: I'm prepared to love her but she has to show what she can do first. The Asian-American is Agent May, whom I like, as well. She seems more centred, more real, than most of the others.

I didn't find it incoherent at all, but perhaps somewhat unfocussed. Still. Early days.

Watched it last night and it seemed even lighter to me, like a story for kids. The bonding seems superficially easy and there doesn't seem to be any there there. Maybe that's what ABC wanted - a light story for kids with zero depth. Urg!

That could be, but I'm thinking (or hoping) it will build to something more substantial.
