Fifty years since the publication of The Game of Kings, one of the books which changed and shaped my life. Fifty years today, exactly. It isn't that I wouldn't have loved history anyway, or dramatically epic romantic heroes; I already did, back when I first read the book. I'm glad the Madison gathering went well. I love it that people all over the English-speaking world were getting together just the way we were.

Doing things simultaneously isn't quite the same as doing them together, but it sure comes close.

What a stirring testimonial! I can easily see some of the listies voicing similar sentiments over the next few decades.

So cool to have a reason to. I liked the way it wasn't *exactly* simultaneous, as everyone was supposed to toast Dorothy Dunnett at 1 p.m. local time. So I could picture it happening every hour on the hour, as the sun rose and set.

Maybe not so much in Asia, though I know of at least one fan in Japan.

I'd be happy to celebrate an International Bujold Day! So far there isn't a Bujold organization like the Dorothy Dunnett Society, but there could be.
