Birthday...

I got up early to go to my French class, and while I was having breakfast, the phone rang. It was maaseru singing:
    Bonne fête à toi
    Bonne fête à toi
    Bonne fête chère Lizzie
    Bonne fête à toi
This delighted me.

I then walked to French, and enjoyed the class as much as always. First, we went to look at an exhibition of art being shown on the lower lever of the Alliance Française, sponsored by GoodPlanet, and discussed it. We watched the film byYann Arthus-Bertrand, Des Forêts des hommes and talked about its content; then we gave our own talks about environmental work. Did you know it was the International Year of the Forest? I didn't know; I think I should have known.

The last part of the class was about books, and four French books were discussed that I'd like to read: Le tour du monde en famille; by Jérôme Bourgine,;enfant des neiges by Nicolas Vanir, and Ni d'Eve ni D'Adam by Amélie Nothomb.

After the class,; and I had a lovely lunch at Sushi 88. I had their lunch special: nagiri, chicken teriyaki, mixed tempura, and a salad.

We browsed for a bit in Pefect Books on Elgin Street. The books all looked particularly interesting today. I took notes. Then I got my hair done at Conoisseur.

There was barely time to go home before I was off with for dinner at East Side Mario's, where I wasn't the only one with a birthday; a little girl at the table behind me was turning eleven.

Then the Apa colltion. Sheila had a cake for me; seeing it from one edge at first, and seeing it was red, white and blue, my first thought was (Marvel fangirl that I am). "It's a Captain America cake!" But it wasn't: it had the Superman symbol on it. So I had warm thoughts of Clark and Lex from Smallville as I blew out the candles.

french, birthday, apaplexy
