Fictional royality...

I've been neglecting The Fannish 5. Time to rectify that. From April 29: 5 favorite royal characters.
  1. Prince Hal/Henry V, in the plays by Shakespeare. Because he's a charmer, with moral and social issues. And a dramatic war on his hands. And he's cute with the French princess.
  2. Emperor Gregor Vorbarra, in the Vorkosigan novels by Lois McMaster Bujold. Because... well, largely because of his wonderful scene in the airlock with Cavilo in The Vor Game, but for a lot of other reasons besides.
  3. Eugenides, in the novels by Megan Whalen Turner. There's no one like him.
  4. Aragorn son of Arathorn, in The Lord of the Rings. For many reasons, including his initial reluctance to take the throne of Gondor.
  5. Thorfinn, in Dorothy Dunnett's King Hereafter. Because he was so brave.
Hamlet should fit in there somewhere.

I was trying to think of royalty I like in comic books, and I didn't come up with much: I don't generally like the kings of the DC or Marvel world, like Namor or Black Bolt or T'Challa. I did like Magneto in House of M, but that wasn't a very prominent role, and isn't Magneto as he normally is.
