Felling better...

Had a terrifically busy day at work - I knew I would - with many emergencies. My stomach didn't stop hurting, and I simply did my best to ignore it, and not feel sorry for myself. After work, I had a brief visit with redmtl, then went home and slept ( Read more... )

Yeah - gluten is a real issue for a lot of people. But, here's the thing. Your bacteria, good and bad, love it, and as the gut and the brain are very closely connected with neural pathways that they've evolved to be able to manipulate, they are going to do their best to make you forget this or brush it off time and time again.

I kept on figuring out I had a problem with gluten (well, wheat - there was a lot less talk of gluten-free even a few years back), and then I kept on "forgetting" it, and then I would realize it again and think - how did I ever forget. Then I finally came across an article on gluten sensitivity, which explained all the things that were gluten - and what were typical symptoms, and that day or week, I went off of it altogether.

The pathogenic bacteria have a real interest in making you forget or discount this - because that's what they thrive on - and they have a real will to live. It's kind of a brain washing power that they can exert and a tug of war over who will control the host.

Not to mention that gluten has a morphine-like substance in its makeup, which is one of the things that makes it so addictive and hard to give up and such comfort food for some.

I was gobsmacked when I read this, and I've been thinking about it. It makes so much sense. Why do I convince myself, over and over, that wheat "won't hurt me just this once" - and then thinks it's okay to eat it daily? Why do I conveniently forget how it gives me problems? Convenience is a factor, but really, I'm not normally that stupid! Or so I like to think.

Yeah... how did I ever forget?

Really, thanks for passing this on. It will help me to not make this mistake in future.

Or so I hope.
