[Spring has sprung! The woodland creatures are out en masse, and it's likely that residents of House 25 heard quite a ruckus once Faize returned to his room after the incident with Crowe's red-ringing. Some of them climbed in through the window and after a bouncy musical number, Faize has emerged from the house in a billowy black and gold dress ( Read more... )

[If Faize is observant, (s)he might notice the woodland creatures falling silent at this slightly sympathetic yet eerily calm voice.]

You feel so trapped, don't you?

[That Faize is, and (s)he looks at the newcomer sadly.

Indeed. I have heard the barriers here are quite unbreakable.

Would you like Mother to free you?

[Faize blinks at that.]

How would Mother free me? I would very much like to be free!

[Slowly, with a low and not-quite-predatory confidence. You can hear the smile in her voice.]

As she freed me, sweetheart.

[Something isn't right, and Princess Faize is uncertain, but something about Martel is calming.]

Is there a way you could show me, Martel?

[A soft, tender smile... Be glad you can't see her eyes, they're alight with the newfound freedom, and that part might be alarming.]

I could. I could show you now, if I knew where to find you... Where might I find you, sweet Faize?

[That tone of voice seems rather reassuring. Plus, she's a friend of Capell's. Capell was the kind of person who was a good just of character, Faize was certain.]

I am out near the edge of the forest, reading. Please, I would love to see you!

[Footsteps now, quietly in the background. Then, softly (as if she's whispering into the journal).]

I come...

[A number of noises at once, now. The opening of a door, what sounds like half shriek and half hiss (100% pained, though), the dropping of the journal, and the slamming of the door. There's some quick movements (translate: Martel putting out the fire), and then, in an almost desperately pained voice:]

I cannot come to you, my Faize, it burns...

[Faize is paying avid attention, and boy, does that sound bad! Martel sounds so kind and helpful, and yet she is hurt.]

Martel, are you alright?! Should I come to you instead? I have ice magic!

[Still pained, but not quite as shocked now that she's regaining her bearings.]

Yes, darling, come to me, I will free you, I will-

[A realization.]

This isn't my house. Mother lives here, I can smell it... But where does Mother live? A map, surely there's a map.

[And she's rifling through things, almost as if she'd forgotten the journal was there.]

[Faize is incredibly concerned nevertheless.]

Are you certain it would be alright for you to do so? I do not want to hurt you, Martel!

[There is a sadness to Faize's voice now, will the princess ever be free?]

I do not know where to find a map either. I could keep looking for you, if you like?

Do not be troubled by it. Come nightfall, I will find you.

Alright. I will wait by my tree, Martel.

[Yup! Princess will ponder this and read to pass the time, and as night falls, Faize starts to watch for Martel.]

[As soon as night falls and the sun doesn't burn, she's out the door, a shadow racing out toward the trees. She can sense Faize, almost, more a magnetic draw than a conscious decision. And soon she sees him/her, sitting and reading.

Martel slows now, to a calm walk. She's not got her hunting face on yet, though it had only been an hour ago that she'd learned how to shift back and forth. Her hunting face would only scare Faize. And Martel wished to free him/her.

As she gets close enough, a smile crosses her lips, so angelic.]

Good evening.

[Faize jumps down from the tree as soon as there's sign of Martel. The princess has a bright smile, despite the time of night, and Faize's arms are open for a hug. Martel is a friend, of course.]

Good evening, Martel! It is so good to see you!
