[You can hardly call it hacked because it was so easy. Normally he doesn't like snooping, but he feels badly for the poor kid.]

Upon arriving here, yes. Why?

Huh? ...Oh, that was supposed to be privatized, wasn't it? You should, uh, work on your locking skills, man.

It... oh. I attempted to perform a lock on it, but I am still learning the ways of this journal. Thank you for pointing out my error.

It's no problem. It took me a year to learn decent security on these things and people can still hack it. Guess that's why I'm a soldier and not a computer geek.

It's rather intriguing how even magical paper can be insecure. I don't often have things to hide, but I would like to learn how to lock things if necessary.

We all do. It's just a matter of keeping it to yourself until you get better at it, really.

Yes. I should have thought to keep it to myself. Is all paper here enchanted, or just that of the journals?

Just the journals, from my experience. I don't use much else, though. I guess it feels like to hear that people care when I'm upset about something.

I will have to look into it and see what other paper I can find.

On Eldar, emotional weakness is looked down upon. Logic is what we have used to overcome our obstacles, and being illogical and upset is not our way. I am trying not to be upset, but I cannot help it.

...Well... someone important to you died, didn't they? You have good reason to be upset.

Anyway, you're not on Eldar right now. No one's going to look down on you if you're upset.

I did not know her for very long, but she did nothing to deserve what happened to her. Her family, the legacy of her people... they died for no reason at all. They showed nothing but kindness to us - complete strangers, and even went so far as to extend me an offer to join them.

You're right, I am not. But it seems that old habits do not die so easily. I should focus on moving on.
