A dream come true...

I've always wanted to travel. Always. It's been in the back of my mind for as long as I can remember. I can recall, vividly, planning the trips we would take with a friend in my first year of High School. And even in Primary School, I was always envious of other students who got to go overseas for their holidays (though thankfully they were quite few in number)

I've bounced around a little bit, from Adelaide - the city I was born in, to Port Pirie - 2-3 hours drive away, back to Adelaide, up to Darwin - way up at the other end of the country, back to Adelaide... Always in a semi-permanent 'I live here, thus I am not a tourist' kind of way.

Until last year.

An online friend and his partner came to visit my country last August, and offered to take me along! It. Was. AWESOME! Best month of my life, no contest. We took a train to Perth, drove up to Darwin, took about a month. I also managed to plan a fair amount of my upcoming NaNoWriMo story during that time, though I felt like my hand was about to fall off. It's been too long since I had a reason to write by hand. (Also, I had a moment of panic when I left my note book in a bookstore at closing time, whoops! Thankfully I noticed before long, and was able to get back in time)

Why am I posting this now, a year later? Simple: I'm going travelling again!

This time, it will be with my father, a shorter trip distance-wise, though it may wind up more of the semi-permanent 'I live here' thing. We're heading to Melbourne. This time, I have a laptop, I have a digital camera with added memory, and I am ready to do the writing/tourist thing! Woo! (Not that there'll be much sight-seeing, with it only being an 8-hour drive)

travel, dream, reality, awesome
