Spider and stuff

I have a new 'pet' at home. I seem to have adopted a garden spider, very pretty he is with brown and cream stripes on his body. He made a web in the corner of my kitchen window several weeks ago and me being me I left him alone. I have no dea what he's (maybe she's) been eating as the cat takes care of the files daft enough to come into the house. When I came home from work the spider seemed to be holding onto a skin now is this because the spider shed his skin or did a bigger spider decide that my window was warmer than being outside and came in and ate the other one? After a couple of hours the new bigger spider moved the old skin to the edge of the web. I wonder if the new spider will eat more and if so what. The other one I think lived on fruit flies (I left a banana in the fruit bowl too long):)

We have had alot of these spiders of varying sizes in and out of the house, their web seems to be extra stong and sounds like ripping fabric when I have to (reluctantly) destroy the web.

Our newish manager left this week, promoted to another store. We were all very sorry to see him go as he was a great guy but it was time for him to have his own store and we knew he was only temporary while our manager is still away after the death of her husband. Our new temporary manager is also young and seems to be really nice too, only time will tell as he will be with us at least until christams or until our own manager returns.

So far the clearence section is doing well and for the moment I am sort of managing to cover it by meyself. There are some new staff starting over the next week or so so hopefully I will get some help. My new price scannner has turned up and everyone has designs on using it. I keep telling them that it's only for the clearence section but they keep telling me that I'm wrong, we will see what happens when it is up and running next week.

The garden is the greenest it's been in ages, we have had quite alot of rain recently but there have been some really warm days this week. Its funny july saw temps reach the low to mid 30's and they said we wwould have even higher temps for august, but it never materialised, august was for the most part cool and wet. We always have something of an 'indian summer' in september which usually seems to coincide with the kids going back to school, it doesn't get as hot as july and it cools off much quicker which is nice, I can deal with the heat during the day if I can get a decent sleep in the evening. I look forward to a nice cold winter but it will probably be mild and wet because of global warming.

I need to pick the last of my apples and make some pie or crumble as well as the last of the ruhubarb which has gone berserk again after the really heavy harvesting I did just a month or so ago. I would so like to have an allotment to grow my own veggies but I don't have enough time to do what I want now let along adding a plot of land covering 3000 square feet and everytime I suggest digging up the lawn hubby and sprog collectivly decide that we have to use the garden a bit to prove that we can't possibly dig it up.

Dr Who is such a big hit that it seems to be constantly on one channel. The sprog really is a fan and over our holiday and since returned we have seen both series 1 and series 2 at least twice and now they have begun at the begining again. I suppose I shouldn't complain, it is better than watching soap operas or the multitude of quiz shows that seem to inhabit the channels these days. Of course once Dr Who finishes it's a quick flick to catch the second half of the proms on tv. LAst night the sprog watch avidly as it was the Royal Phillamonic Orchestra playing and last autum she did a series of workshops with them and wanted to see if any of the ones she worked with were there, they were and were pointed out with a 'I know him/her!' Tomorrow is the last night of the proms until next july. Tomorrows one will be the best as usual as the audience gets a chance to join in.

Time for dinner though I don't really feel like it, I have been feeling a bit queasy the last couple of days, not bad enough to go to the dr's but definitly off. And to end and for no reason but I love this picture, here's Hugo.
