One overheard conversation in a third year ECE course:

G1: "I'm in Campus Crusade for Christ. Well, no, it's not Crusade. We took that out"
G2: "Really? Why?"
G1: "Because, like, I think that ... in the past, crusade was all about... You know, in the past, crusades were all about killing people? So the word has a bad connotation to it."

...

I'm surprised that she knew such a big word as connotation. Back to class now.
