Updates for February and early March

Mar 06, 2006 08:40

Okay, so I was basically ill for all of February. I think I was illness-free for about a week there, but then for the past two and a half to three weeks I was sick with what I thought was Bronchitis. Turned out to be a chest infection/walking pneumonia. Yay.

So I finished the pills for clearing that up on Saturday and I feel a hell of a lot better. I hope this makes me better and not just for a week or so. Make me better until the end of placement, for fuck's sake, it's only four weeks away!

Trouble is, I have three things due this week that I wasn't really able to get to (one today, it's mostly done, one tomorrow, I just need to type it up and find two articles to get quotes from, and one on Friday that I know I can't get finished on time). I'll be asking for an extension on the Friday one, since that professor does know that I was that sick and is sort of okay with granting extensions.

Today's assignment is just reviewing two assignments due at the end of the term, so I think I can explain why the last two week's worth of work isn't there by way of my illness. I'm lucky to have been able to read the chapters at all and be getting good grades on the weekly tests in this class, asking me to actually write down the important bits of the chapters in a chart is asking too much during my cough-fest.

Tomorrow's assignment, well I think it's completely done with the exception of missing quotes from the two articles, and seeing as it is only three pages long, it should be find if I just take out a quote from the text and find a similar quote in an article.

And what the hell is this with grading everything by 20%? I don't understand this program and it's useless assignments worth 20%. At least make me write a 10 page assignment once in my bloody career for 30% ... instead of stupid charts and timelines, or two to three page opinion assignments worth 20%.

Honestly, I don't understand why Social Work has opinion papers of double digit length worth 30% to 40% and this program has them being three pages. Do they think as teachers we're slower than social workers? Or incapable of writing a long opinion paper?

Bah. Anyways, I'm well again. I need to call Wonderland to figure out when my training is, and I hope that I haven't missed it, since that would suck (I probably wouldn't be able to work during June if I've missed it and that's the days of great pay).

Oh, and I managed to get a friend of mine employed at Wonderland too. Jessica, if you're ever in charge of the Cliffhanger rides area, my friend will be working under her. Just a heads up. ^_^
