Black Rose
The moon is full showering its light over her near naked form. With the sheets clutched tightly around her chest she watches her lover get dressed. There are so many things she wants to say but knows her words will only stress the situation further. It's been many months since they have become more than just two people who occasionally shared a bed just for release. Despite their 'relationship' it still felt like a mere arrangement. So many issues and insecurities weren't worked through and no matter how hard she tried it seemed impossible to break through the walls her lover put up.
//I saw you in the garden
I wanted you so much
I really thought that you were different
Oh how I couldn't get enough//
The brunette beauty is contagious, her essence crawled into her lover settling in her very soul. She just couldn't get the younger woman out of her head, bed, or even her heart. So often she wished Faith would stay just once after making love. That's what confused Buffy so much, the other slayer had no problem sleeping next to her after a long day but it was the contact post sex she couldn't handle.

But the lows have drowned the highs away
now there's no where else to go//
"Night B.", Faith tosses over her shoulder before leaving the room. Once the door is closed Buffy lays back to stare at the ceiling. She was never perfect in relationships but Willow's words filled her ears. 'She has been through a lot. Things won't just magically be all roses. I'm just not sure Faith is ready for something this serious.'

I couldn't bring you back to life//
It hurts the blond so much when Faith pushes her away. The first time they actually made love the brunette's eyes narrowed before going emotionless upon hearing Buffy's whispered declaration of love. She hadn't meant to say it and she regretted it the moment the words slipped through her lips. Despite Faith's passion for protecting the innocent and making up for her past crimes Buffy can easily see the broken girl beneath the hard exterior.

Not able to take the situation any longer Buffy gets out of bed and heads to her closet. Once she's dressed she grabs a stake and heads out her window into the night. The warm night air fills her lungs and she can't help but think about her days back in Sunnydale. Concentrating her senses she tries to find where Faith is. With other slayers running around one would think Buffy would have trouble finding her lover but the chills down her spine can only be caused by Faith's proximity.
//You never tell me how you feel

I really tried to make it real
but you never had the faith

to take the pain away

You don't have to be this way/
After thirty minutes she finds Faith sitting by a small lake.
"Why did you follow me?", she asks.
"Because we need to talk.", Buffy replies."This can't keep going on like this. I know you have your own thing going on but for this to work I need you to be willing to open up.."
"I'm not some lovesick puppy B.", Faith growls."I don't share, cry, and grow like your other lovers."
"Faith I'm not asking-"
"I refuse to not have control over how I feel.", she glances over her shoulder."I have power over when I come and go."
"I don't want to suffocate you...I just want to know what's going on in your head."
"That's my business.", she stands without looking at the smaller slayer.

"Maybe that's what you need.", Faith finally looks Buffy in the face. Her brown eyes are hard and Buffy can't read them for once."To just let me go."

With all her strength Buffy holds back her tears as Faith turns her back on her. With a heavy heart she watches Faith walk away.
