...which is ironic b/c not a lot happened lol! I won't mind if you skip it. Honestly.
I just feel I should update b/c it's been a while. I wish I had more exciting stuff to post about but to be honest I just don't. I'm a homebody and the most I do is go out to movies with Sasha, Brian et al or to Michael's or Darren's. btw...Brian was NOT lying about Michael's Star Wars collection. It's crazzzzzzy huge. I didn't think anyone could top Brian's but Brian's pales into insignificance next to Michael's. The next time I'm there I'm getting photos. I am not lying when I say that every single room is a SW display. When you first enter his place you see SW posters lining the hall walls. To the right is his lounge (family room) where he has that
old Tie Fighter arcade game, 4 srs bsns light sabers (Luke's, Anakin's, Yoda's and Vader's). He also has Stormtrooper and Vader costumes on life sized mannequins - which don't spook you btw b/c, well, they're in costume lol. He has framed autographed pictures covering the walls too. Like, say, he goes to a convention and meets Mark Hamill - he'll get him to autograph a pic and gets his photo taken with him, so in the frame he has a signed pic, a signed (mint) figure and the pic of him with the star. He has this for practically the whole cast, including extras. He prob. just doesn't have Harrison Ford b/c, well, Harrison is too good for cons, right? ;p I'm sure I'm missing something else in his lounge but really, it was overwhelming. And I'm not even done yet. As you go upstairs he has mint figures lining the walls; he also has display stands and spindles that holds tonnes and tonnes of merchandise. His spare bedrooms are covered in merchandise from the 70's to today. He has stuff I'd forgotten existed, like pencil sets, rubbers (erasers) rulers, paper sets, shampoo, pez...just name a bit of merchandise and he HAS IT. He has posters galore; ships/vehicles galore; figures galore - every.single.room. is stuffed filled with SW stuff. It's gobsmacking. I was :O :O :O :O :O as I toured the house. Even his bedroom is packed full with SW stuff. I really can't wait to take photos so you guys can see. :S
In other news, we saw the last Harry Potter, which was good. I'm not a fan but I enjoyed it. I've been won over by Luna. Easily the most endearing character I have seen in a looooong time. We also saw The Proposal, which was both funny, moving and has a very hot Ryan Reynolds :P (I've liked Ryan for a while but this is the first film of his I actually enjoyed. He tends to make clunkers :x)
Last month Brian & Darren went on holiday to the Canary Islands. Darren is anti social so no one else was invited. pffft. (Not that Darren is a jerk per se he's just...odd *shrug* Go figure.) Brian may go somewhere else with me and Michael but that's up in the air atm. Sasha went with her mom to Finland and I cat sat. Needless to say my tan is non existent b/c Ireland's summer is once again total rubbish. It may as well be winter. I'll spare you all a longer rant about that.
While S was tooling around Finland and Estonia *so jealous* Peaches and Misty (who now love Coco, yay!) decided it was time to play rough with her. Now, I can't entirely blame them for taking a lump out of Coco's neck and tearing her
inner eyelid because frankly, Coco often starts the roughhousing. She LOVES pouncing on M or PP and attacking them; it's what kittens do. But Misty and Peaches are 2 years old and bitchslap her and bite her and she ends up with the short end of the stick. Anyway, naturally these things happened while Sasha wasn't here. I dealt with Coco's neck okay, it bled a little and I cleaned it but she had this nasty wound for a while; then a pink patch when the original wound healed but before the fur grew back, which it hasn't entirely yet. The eye was a bigger concern b/c it bled a lot and I could clearly see her inner eyelid flapping over her pupil etc. I WAS FREAKED. To make matters worse my dad decided to be an arrogant and useless ass. Before I continue, let me say that he needs glasses to read, his eyes are NOT THE BEST. Anyway, the injury happened around 3am so obviously no vet is open then - I had to wait 'til the morning to phone my dad to come take Coco to the vet. The vet was CLOSED b/c it was a national holiday here (
12th -.-) and the emergency vet is in another town about 30 mins away. Anyway, by morning I was wrecked from keeping an eye on Coco all night so I didn't fancy going to the vet and, thinking dad was a responsible adult, I asked him to take her w/out me. He swung by with some woman from church and I swear to God, he swanned back a good while later and announced that for some inexplicable reason when they were HALF WAY THERE both he and this dumb cow 'looked at Coco's eye and couldn't see anything wrong' and came back home!! I WAS LIVID!! Sure, the blood had washed away over the hours; I'd also initially cleaned out her eye - but the inner membrane was still torn! I was worried about infection etc. But my stupid father couldn't see the membrane and decided a trip to the vet was unnecessary >.< I had a cow. Dad said I was over-reacting and to 'see how she goes' - he'd check back tomorrow. I don't drive and have no money for a taxi that far out, so I couldn't take Coco myself; Brian was at work, as was everyone else I knew who had a car. There was nothing else I could do but email Sasha about what happened. Naturally, she emailed back and said she didn't care either if Coco's eye appeared fine; she def. wanted her taken to the vet the next day. So the next day comes and dad again deems Coco's eye fine and refused to take her, despite Sasha's explicit wishes and the fact that (unless you're my dad and this stupid friend of his) you clearly see the torn membrane. My dad didn't care and I again was left stranded due to the aforementioned circumstances so, I emailed Brian at work, who was horrified at the injury but also unsurprised by my dad's arrogance. He said he'd come by in the morning and he'd take Coco and me to the vet, which thank God, he did. At the vet on DAY THREE, it was deemed Coco was damn lucky her cornea wasn't damaged as her inner membrane was indeed torn and I had to give her drops (which she wasn't a fan of) for a few days to stave off possible infaction which, btw, could've led to blindness. Needless to say, my dad is in my bad books and I actually tossed him out of the house on day 2 - something I have never done with anyone before. Add to this that Coco also had an infection on her chin from either Misty or Peaches scratching her and I also had to put steroid cream on that which again, she hated. (I also had to give Peaches her pills which she needs all the time now b/c she keeps getting sick. Poor thing is only 2 and she may need to be on them forever :( ) Anyway...that was my cat sitting adventures. /epic
On my mum side of things, nothing has changed. She is still in a crappy home which still upsets me and the whole thing is just blagh.
On a small upside, the comms.
ohnotheydidnt and
shamone_ontd have kept me entertained and (ironically, in ONTD's case) restored a little faith in humanity for me. ONTD, in case you don't know, is a information/snark/gossip site where I go for lulz, basically. When Michael J died, it was one of the places I checked first because I knew they'd have the latest and I loathe TMZ et al and refuse to give them hits. [I am not actually 'into' gossip. I hate it fwiw but ONTD is more than just bitchy gossip, which is why I go. Anyone can post anything from any site; I get my latest Avatar info from there, for example. Anyway, I digress]. I honestly braced myself going in b/c that site is riddled with bitches. Humorous bitches, but bitches nonetheless. Anyway, if something on Michael was posted pre-death I used to skip because it could get nasty so - imagine my surprise when 99.9% of people were ZOMG NOOO I LOVE MICHAEEEELLLL. I was O.o but heartened. It turned out many MJ fans had done what I'd done, skipped the Michael posts for not wanting to see the nastiness and only the thick skinned fans commented. This is no longer the case. Michael posts are now the most informative; the mods have banned pap pics of his children and, the posts are, ironically, the most entertaining (many prefer to celebrate his life rather than mourn his death although having said that, many, like myself, are gutted, despite the 'parties'). Yes- parties. There are Michael Jackson party posts which include hilarious macros, gifs, youtube vids and just...awesome humor. The part that is kinda/sorta helping restore some faith in humanity in me is - haters; real haters who once believed the worst about Michael, have finally taken time to educate themselves in these posts. A hater, in the early days post-death, would come in and comment with the usual accusations against Michael and be swiftly educated by fans on facts to negate the tabloid BS. Not pro fan opinion, I just want to make that clear, but facts. Just from reading posts and comments, many haters flipped their stances and became fans; they feel genuine remorse for believing the worst and not taking the time to educate themselves before he died. They are genuinely upset they will never see him perform live; never hear new material and that the didn't pay attention to his music beforehand and honestly I admire these people's guts in admitting this. It's guilt that has them post, I believe but still - the fact they do is admirable. shamone_mj is a Michael only version of ONTD and it's a lot of fun too, although there are more people there who are devastated at Michael's loss and are getting great support from other fans - but they have party posts too, aside from the sadness. Perhaps oddly, it was the ONTD MJ party posts that kept me going with the Coco drama. btw, the party posts always end up about 60+ pages of comments. That's a truckload and it really pleases me.
In other news, just the other day I was lamenting my music to Sasha. I haven't really listened to artists I love in a while because iTunes at home either slows or crashes my computer - plus I find it annoying anyway because I am from the mixed tape era where you put all your fave songs and listen in a glorious 90 min spurt. Shuffle on iTunes just doesn't cut it for that. 24 songs you genuinely love with all your heart on a tape/cd is superior to shuffling your iTunes and getting songs you're not really in the mood for or may be the artist you like but you're not really hanging for and I'm too impatient to make playlists. Anyway, today Sasha fell across as report on
Spotify and installed it immediately for both of us. (Americans, it's not meant to be available for you guys yet but I've seen at least 3 people say they can get it working by proxy or something. idk :P) Anyway, it rocks and I'm already using it. It's just easier than iTunes and I am not having to worry about disk space and crashing etc. My only pet peeve is the lack of Joan Jett and Def Leppard songs. They have some but not all ;.; Anyway, I heartily recommend this. It's teh wicked.
Sorry if my update seems more grrr than wheee but eh. It's what happened. I'm also sorry for the length. I really should update more frequently with shorter posts lol :x I will finish off with two pics of Coco. One is Coco with Misty, just to show the size difference - the other is just Coco b/c she's adorable.
Misty and Coco
So. Cute!
I'm not being Coco bias btw. I thought Sasha had more photos with all 3 cats playing in the backyard but I must've dreamed it or she hasn't uploaded those yet :/
