My English Honors 101 professor said that we need to enhance our vocabulary. I tried the whole one word a day thing with no luck so I'm picking words out of this book I got at BJs and writing sentences with them. That's the way I learn. To make it fun, I'm writing sentences from my different TV shows and books. This might lead to an epic fail but I'm going to try. If anyone sees an error in my sentences or wants to add anything, please do!
Word: Abatement
Definition: The reduction or elimination of a tax, fine or debt.
Sentence: Sam didn't think it was possible but Dean managed to talk the meter maid into giving them an abatement of a parking ticket.
Word: Abjure
Definititon: To renounce or turn your back on a belief or position you once held near and dear.
Sentence: In the last episode of NCIS Gibbs abjured rule number thirteen (Never, ever involve a lawyer) and created a new one instead.
Word: Abominate
Definition: To really really hate something. To view something with considerable loathing.
Sentence: In Ridley's Brotherhood AU, Dean said that he abominates only a few things, Yellow Eyed Demons and the Yankees.
I'm sticking to three words a day. I think that's enough for now. I also want to see if I can use the words daily.
