Rath leaving drinks!

Right, since I'm sure there have to be a few people left in this town who can be lured out with beer... As you all know, I am leaving Cambridge as of the 28th September. Consequently, on the 26th (Saturday) afternoon/evening, I am going to be In The Pub, where anyone who feels an interest in my imminent departure may join me (although I will, of ( Read more... )

*flail* I will be in Cumbria! I would like to see you again! I am busy this evening, but am free Tues/Weds/Thurs evenings and all of Sunday (around packing). Would, perhaps, a Thing be possibile? I am aware that you are made of busy and we don't know each other brilliantly, so if you have more important things to do & people to see then this is absolutely understandable.

Argh! Hmm, which night is Geek Night at the Carlton? Do you go to that? Cos if so I can probably get Oliver and Marcus to drag me along and see you there... otherwise I'm only around Thursday of that lot, really. Could do coffee Thursday?

I do do Geek Night, yes, and it is Thursday. Would that work? I would be likely to show up there around 8ish in the ordinary manner of things but would have no objection to being there earlier.

If you two are going to be at Carlton Geek Night, wild horses won't keep me away.

:D :D

FWIW I am almost always at Carlton Geek Night. During term, at least. During the vacations it's a bit patchier.

Eh, okay then, I'll just drop in on that. Earlier would be good so I can see people and still get home at a sensible time though. How's six thirty for you, or is that too early?

That's a bit early for pub, yeah. Coffee instead, that timeish? Up to you as to where, really.

Hmm. The thing is that I work afternoons on Castle Hill, which is nowhere near any coffee houses but is ideally placed for the Carlton - so I wanted to do earlier than eight so I didn't wind up accidentally working till seven thirty while I wait. What's the earliest you'd be willing to be at the pub for? Some form of compromise might work here.

(Also, I am clearly still a late-nineties-rocksoc veteran at heart, because my brain is going "how can six thirty be too early for the pub? It's after eleven in the morning, innit?")

It is too early only in the sense that there wouldn't be many other Carlton-types there yet, and because I am spending the day with C he would be there also (because he Carltons). I will understand if this is problematic because, well, while I like him a lot now I actively disliked him for most of the first six months I knew him, and he can be difficult to get on with, and then on the other hand I should perhaps not assume that EVERYBODY EVER HATES HIM and, you know, let them make their own minds up. Is basically where I'm coming from.

Oh, bless you, is that all it is? I know C at least as an acquaintance and we get on fine (at least, I have no problem with him at all; I don't want to presume upon his goodwill towards me, but I don't think he hates me!)

So if you don't mind me hanging out with both of you, I certainly don't. :)

... yes, okay, I need to be less edgy about that. :) Excellent! See you there, then.

Ah, the "if the sun is properly up, it is not too early for scotch" mentality.

More the old rocksoc rule of "if it is after opening time, at least one person I know will be in a pub". But yes.
