Today is Easter Sunday, 8th April, 2012. And on this date is rightfully honoured the most important person ever to die, come back, and then do something awesome:
RIP Per Yngve "Dead" Ohlin
16-1-1969 - ? - 8-4-1991
ex-Morbid, ex-Mayhem
It's twenty-one years today since Black Metal lost one of the greatest talents it ever had, dead (for the second time) by his own hand at the age of twenty-two. Rest in - well, "rest in peace" hardly seems fitting. Rest in darkness, maybe.
Got to love the way the dates have lined up this year, though...
And since I couldn't make this post without including a couple of song links:
Morbid - Wings of FuneralMayhem - Carnage (because everyone always posts Freezing Moon but this is amazing too)
Laters,
Rath
[Notes: Tribute graphic above made by me. Photo of Bran Castle from
Ioan Nicolae's site, photo of Dead so old and so universally reposted that I have no idea who originally owns it, Morbid and Mayhem logos found lying around, and all other text, editing and composition work mine.]
