Winter Storm Warning - waiting for it to hit

Jan 26, 2009 12:25

We're under a winter storm warning.  It is supposed to hit by 3pm today.  We're not pre
pared or ready but here we are, just waiting, watching the sky.

So far all we have is this gray sky and cold temps.

When I first heard that it was coming yesterday I asked the dh to go and get supplies but he refused.  He was busy watching Battlestar Galactica on the internet and didn't want to be bothered.  (I'm not going to tell you how angry I was about that) Today he says he'll go and get some supplies after work.  Of course that is after the storm has arrived but hopefully he'll get home safe.  We weren't expecting a storm to prepare for so we don't have a lot of money to spend until Wednesday.  We'll just get some cat food so they don't starve and a few things for us.  We should probably get some more of those little propane bottles but I am pretty sure the store will be all sold out today.

We decided after the last ice storm (2007) when we had no electricity in our house for 13 days that we were going to stay home and rough it if it happened again.  Staying with friends is just not a good idea and it can ruin a great friendship.

My son and I are doing stuff around the house to get ready.  I'm trying to get all the laundry caught up so that if we are caught with no electricity we have clean clothes anyway.  We have a storage container for water.

I guess I am hoping it will just bypass us like the ice storm did that was supposed to come through here last year.

Tigger asked me what we are looking for....

But when he looked he said: "I don't see any ice out there Mom."

(I know I know, he is a really fat cat)

China decided to just hide her head and snooze.   She isn't going to think about the ice.

Hopefully we'll all be as warm and snuggly as the cats

through the 2 days of ice and the snow that is coming later in the week.

It makes me warm just to look at them.

ice storm, flame points, preparing, white cats, cats
