t-day, bear, nephs and gems

T-Day was fun, but turkey-less. We had breakfast with mom and then came home intending to paddle, but there was...hmmm. How do I say this? There was no dam-water in the river. The dam people didn't open the dam and so the river was dry. No *n,*. no bad word.

Re b-fast with mom, it was lovely, and I sat beside my eldest neph and it was amazing. I babysat this humongous man (he's 21 and hunky and over 6 feet tall) for 6 weeks when he was a new born baby because the day care wouldn't take him till he was 12 weeks and his mom had to work during the week, and I was on weekends. Whew. Lotta reasons, yes? Anyway, now Ben is funny and totally studly and sooo grown up.

I had a dog back then (back when Ben was a baby and it was my first pom) and Bear was this leave-me-alone kind of dog. Very cat-like in his independance, and he had a 250 word vocabulary. Bear, not 6-week-old Ben. Seriously. Way-smart dog. Anyway, Bear had this horror that Ben was going to fall off the bed and that dog sat at the foot of the bed and stared up at the mattress all dang day long. When Ben would wake up the dog would bark and jump up on the bed and sniff and whine and lick the baby's head. (This was my sis-in-love's first baby, so I never told her about the dog licks. I just wipped Ben's head and kept mum. But now Ben is this big, muscular, funny kid, and he has that way of looking at a person (even his elder aunt) that makes her know he's totally *there* with her. He's gonna make some woman a great husband some day.

Okay back to my T-day.  No dam-water. So we stayed home and had a quiet day. I made jewelry and worked on rewrites and the hubby did taxes, we went to bed early! Today we take turkey and roast beef to the inlaws for celebration. The whole day with the inlaws.... I need prayer... (grins)
