Putting the Scythe back in Buffy's room was harder than she expected.
What came after it was worse.
The Slayers all seemed quite pleased to see her up and about, as did Giles, Willow, Xander, and Andrew. But when they thought she couldn't hear, when voices were lowered just enough to catch her interest while still being audible, they said something different.
There were rumors. Suspicion. How could she have survived all that with her sanity intact when nobody else had? And how did she really get out of that Hellmouth? What kind of deal did she have to make...
When they send her to Rome, ostensibly to have a Slayer near one of Wolfram and Hart's active offices but really to keep her at a distance until they figure out what to do with her, her mind is almost made up.
