 Warriors on Vacation
By PaBurke
Summary: Teal’c should know better than to attempt something mundane like camping.
Fandoms: SG1 (Season 3-ish), Supernatural (Season 5-ish)
Word Count: 400

Teal’c had been out during one of his rare times exploring Earth alone. He had been ‘camping’ something for which Colonel O’Neill had professed a great fondness. O’Neill was unable to attend due to some dreaded paperwork and budget meeting. Major Carter and Daniel Jackson wished Teal’c luck but declared themselves too busy for unpolluted air.

O’Neill had issued him a handgun and a cell phone in case Murphy decided to strike. Teal’c promised to strike Mister Murphy in return.

O’Neill had smirked and said, “You do that.”

Teal’c found the forest quiet and restful, in some ways it resembled Chulak, but a startling difference was always around the next bend to remind the alien that he was far from home. At this very moment, it was too quiet even the birds had stopped their song.

Why?

What sort of predator would silence the fowl?

Teal’c heard a gunshot. Two. He readied his communication device in one hand and his weapon in the other. He waited. Only an inexperienced warrior rushed into battle.

A monster unlike any Teal’c had seen before crashed out of the woods. It was upright, tall, with extraordinary long arms and phalanges. It had red eyes that flickered black. Every instinct in his body alerted him: this was no ordinary predator. Now Teal’c had a face to match with Mister Murphy’s instigations. O’Neill would have called him ‘ugly.’

Teal’c readied his gun.

Two young warriors crashed out of the wood after the monster. They viewed Teal’c with… worry. It had been decades since a stranger had worried over Teal’c’s wellbeing.

“Cas,” one shouted. “Get the civilian out of here.”

A third young man that Teal’c had not previously noticed appeared at his side. “It is not safe for you here.” The stranger grabbed Teal’c’s arm.

“I too am a warrior.”

The man gazed intently at Teal’c.

“Cas!” The first warrior shouted. “Wendigo! Move now!”

Suddenly Teal’c had been transported 3.5 miles away, to where he had parked his rental car.

“It is a battle for which you are ill-equipped, Jaffa.”

Teal’c stilled. “Who are you?”

“I am Castiel, Teal’c of Chulak. Continue in your battle, Jaffa, for you are not truly sholvah.”

Then Castiel transported away, presumably to assist the two young warriors.

Teal’c mulled over what he would report to Colonel O’Neill. O’Neill would be displeased that Teal’c had failed to strike at Mister Murphy.

The Right Stuff
Prompt: Stargate SG-1/Firefly, Any/Any, That's New

Word Count: 300

Mal didn’t know the strangers. All he knew was that when his crew entered the Alliance facility to rescue River with no plan and a lot of firepower, the strangers were already inside trying to rescue one of their own, an older man named ‘O’Neill.’

They had more of a plan. The woman, Carter, had the know-how to use the Alliance facility against the captors. The man, O’Neill, was as scary as River; he could make things open/close/explode just by looking at it. O’Neill couldn’t affect all things; just the ones that didn’t like look Alliance machinery. Mal was pretty sure O’Neill was a Reader, since he had taken one look at the Serenity crew and declared, ‘we have better odds working together.’

Mal accepted the suggestion with a nod and then with the strangers’ Murray, he fired on the Alliance officers chasing them. Enemy of my enemy or some such craziness.

Just when Mal was sure that O’Neill’s crew had led them into a trap in the middle of the facility, a ship appeared in front of them.

Jayne nearly fired on it, but O’Neill smoothly disarmed the merc. “Let’s go, campers,” he said. O’Neill sounded a little crazy; would River be like this in forty years? If she lived that long?

Mal carried River and his crew followed O’Neill’s into the tiny ship. River shook off the drugs enough to pat the side of the ship. “I wish you’d talk to me,” she murmured.

Mal held Crazy Girl close and whispered, “Don’t go pickin’ up any new tricks, y’hear?”

River’s eyes slowly focused on his face and then she nuzzled his neck. “Can’t. Got the wrong family.”

O’Neill either overheard or… Reader. He said, “Little One, you’ve got your right family.” Then he shared a smile with Carter.

The Princess and Pauper (She made rich)
Fandoms: Firefly/Serenity and Star Wars
Word Count: 300
Prompt: Star Wars/Firefly, Han Solo & Malcom Reynolds, "Take your princess and get the hell off my ship." By natural_blue_26 on April 14th, 2011 01:51 am (UTC)

The man who called himself Solo had played it straight, straighter than any thief Mal had ever met. He had told Mal first thing that they were fugitives from the Alliance and that the flight would probably go wrong in ways that Mal didn’t think was possible. He had the cash up front and enough of it to tempt even the most cautious of his crew to take the chance.

The woman’s name was Leia. She had a lot of education and manners, but she was more. Mal didn’t find out she was a princess until after the reward ‘wave travelled the ‘verse. Solo explained that their ‘verse was trying to negotiate a peace with the Alliance and the Alliance had tried to kidnap her and hold the princess for ransom. Leia had masterminded an escape out of the Alliance detention center. She had gone back for Solo. The pair was a little sketchy on the how. She could hold up her end of any mishap. She could pick up the snobbery of rich people and drop it just as fast as Mal could change his clothes and with as much thought. Mal could tolerate that. He could tolerate the debates with Simon and Inara. He could tolerate her prodding Jayne to improve himself. Mal kinda enjoyed listenin’ in on the weapon talks with Zoe.

Then he caught Leia teaching River to levitate things with her mind!

Mal’s patience ran dry. The last thing they needed was Crazy Girl with another weapon at her disposal.

If they hadn’t been in the middle of the black, he wouldn’t have booted her in that instant. He had to wait until the rendezvous with the odd spaceship -of no class Kaylee had ever seen before- to ungraciously shove the princess off his ship.
