Learning How to Fly: Doppelganger Snippet
Spoilers for the episode ‘Doppelganger’ (Some of the lines are straight from that script, though in a different context)

“You guys are warped.  Both of you,” John declared to Rodney and Ronon as they left the infirmary.  “Neither knows the meaning of kid toys.”

“Did it occur to you that you are the odd one out, here,” Rodney countered.  “I propose an experiment.”

“Oh?” asked John.  He looked at Ronon, but the Satedan just shrugged.

“We walk into the mess hall and take a poll of those sitting at the first table to the left of the door.”  Rodney knew the probabilities favored said table being occupied by scientists, and anyone good enough to join Atlantis started in their field at an early age.

“Fine,” John agreed.  The three men strode into the mess and were surprised to see Winchester and his friend Ash sitting at the pre-determined table, both intent upon their food.  Rodney noticed scientists hovering around and glaring at those at ‘their’ table, though no one tried to move them.

“Hey guys,” John greeted them.  He was certain to win this one.  “We’re taking a poll.  I’ll say a comment and the guys will fill in their favorites and then you two answer as well.  Okay?”

Ash shrugged and Dean nodded as he was chewing and swallowing his bite.

John started off the poll by saying, “Looks like one of those toys you play with when you’re a kid.”

McKay said, “Commodore 64.”

“Triple-Barrel Shotgun,” Ronon added.

Dean answered first, “Six-inch Bowie knife.”

“I was definitely a Commodore man,” Ash said with a wistful smile.

John gaped at the knowledge, but Dean was already focusing on Ronon.  “Triple-barrel, really?  I don’t suppose you know the specs for the weapon.  Or enough of it that I can reproduce it?”

Ronon admitted, “I know some.”

“I’m guessing that the payload is close to your blaster.”

“You are not touching my blaster.”

“Not even to make it better?”

“What makes you think you can make it better?”

Dean grinned.  “I know that I can reproduce it.  I can make several new ones.”  His eyes slid over to John, hoping to catch the CO’s attention.

Ronon grunted.  “I’ll let you borrow the blaster for one full day when you beat me in three bouts in a row.”

“Two bouts and I get two days,” Dean countered.

“Deal.”

They shook hands and John had to roll his eyes.
