E's currently napping, but there's an absolute racket going on outside where about 6 people seem to be mowing the grass at once, so not counting on *that* lasting much longer!!

Had our first antenatal meeting with Hannah, our doula, last night. Went really well, she is such a calm, laid back person, but at the same time, really supportive and knowledgable, and I feel 100% confident that she's the right person to be supporting us at the birth. We've decided to take up her offer of borrowing a birthing pool ( I wasn't very keen on the idea initially, but, as with many things, have since changed my mind!) and now have a new "To Do" list that should take up the next 7-8 weeks just nicely!  I asked her what would happen if my waters didn't go naturally, as they hadn't with E, and was told that a) if things are just left to go as they will without any interventions then they'll go when they are ready and b), something that realy surprised me to learn - a very very small percentage of babies are born with the amniotic sac intact and that's totally fine!  I'm left scratching my head at why they were so insistent on breaking them before I was allowed to push with E, but it doesn't surprise me really after everything I'm learning about how hospitals opperate. SO glad we're not going to have to deal with any of that crap this time around! Trying to keep up with my reading and other birth prep, and don't have any major worries/negative things going on right now, which is nice. Can feel that the final stretch is here now and just need to keep preparing and stay focussed and wait for the happy day :):)

Going to be a bit of  frantic week here though as it's E's birthday on Monday and got everyone coming for her party this Saturday. Means the next few evenings are going to be spent kitchen-bound trying to get everything ready.Really looking forward to it though;  the woman who runs the signing classes we used to go to is coming to do some songs etc with the kids and got a good number of friends and family coming as well; should be a blast!

Only irritation at the moment (apart from the fact someone keeps taking stuff from out the front of our house - will write about that later as it's a bit of a long story) is that openoffice isn't working and I haven't been able to get the letters written that I'd intended to do while E napped. Got singing practice tonight as well, so won't be able to get them done then. Bah. But really, in the grand scheme of things, I totally can't complain. Life is good :):)
