Meh. E had a reaction to the thrush medication, so we're back to square one again. Rash all up her chest and her nappy area a total mess. Not. Fun. Yesterday was a case of dentist appointment for me at 3.30pm (filling came out the day before), 5.30pm doctor's appointment to find out WHY my toddler was all red AGAIN, and then 7pm for getting me to ( Read more... )

Ooh, cheesecake *in* the bath - will try that next time! No wine for me though, got another three months to go before I can even think about *that* again! :(

I'm in the middle of applying for leadership with LLL; lots to get done, but hoping to get through it before the little one arrives.

Yeah you know I don't drink a lot either. At most I will drink half a glass of wine. I know lots of mums drink a glass or two or more even and say that as long as you're not drunk you are OK to nurse but I still don't feel comfortable with that.

I also thought about applying to the LLL but they won't take a working mum apparently. That is total BS in my opinion. BC frankly, working mums nurse too and there are a lot of issues like pumping at work and making your nursing relationship work even if you work FT that the LLL never covers (here anyway). Actually I would love to be an IBCLC but you need to work in the medical field for that or else have had tons of LC experience (so I guess LLL would count)... I have a love-hate relationship with the LLL in general though. I feel like they are a fantastic free resource but at the same time very biased you know?

I had the occasional drink when I was breastfeeding E, but trying to avoid now I'm pregnant again. It also makes me feel quite sick so it's not that hard to leave it. Definitely not ok with the couple of glasses a day thing, partly because I have a low tolerance and just wouldn't feel comfortable being under the influence.

As for LLL, I didn't know that about them not accepting working mums. What is the reasoning they give? I agree that there are lots of areas a working mum would be able to really help other mums with so seems a bit strange to me. Not sure what the rules are here, there was nothing on the application stuff that said it wasn't ok to apply if working. Definitely sucks if that is the case!

Yeah I never drank while PG. I had a couple of sips of champagne on NYE but Cat freaked out and kicked the crap out of me so I stopped.

Re: LLL, they have this thing here where moms should do everything in their power (even downsizing their house and running their own businesses from home) in order to stay at home with their kids. While I can kind of see the benefit of that, it's also not practical for a lot of people. Here all the meetings are at 10-12 AM so no one who works can ever go. It sucks. I only went to meetings when I was on mat leave.
