I am very tired after a hectic week of work and play (but mostly play!). Realisation that I must get on top of the growing work load is starting to cause panic...I should also finally find out, this week, how I did last semester. I find it very difficult to tell. Hopefully heading for a reasonable 2:1...
It seems many places, mostly the midlands, East and the hills have had alot of snow this week. Mornings clutching hot tea and watching flakes drift slowly past the window, and afternoons walking in mini-blizzards with the glee of anticipation, sadly, did not lead to the settled layer of whiteness I had hoped for...There is still time though. It is so cold in our house just now, I am sat here in a fleecey dressing gown with hot tea and candles before an early night of books and warmth...Though my eyeldis are so heavy, I expect I won't last long with a book.
Anyway, I also got a film reel developed containing 36 shots from December onwards. I will gradually post those I wish to share here...Below are a few glimpses, snapshots of scenery back home - which I mostly post for my own nostalgia and longing for the hills! All taken with a Canon automatic 35mm zoom camera (unfortunate as some of the images would have been sharper and brighter with more time and an SLR, but some day soon...)...
A few minutes walk from my Father's house...
The deer herd at Dallam Estate, also near to my Father's home, and one of my favourite places to escape to...
Soon, in a week on Wednesday, I go away to Ross on Wye in the Wye Valley with my Father to
a rather lovely farm house for a 2 and a half day escapism into the country...I am throuoghly in need of this, and am hoping the near-by caves and falconry are open to visit. If there is time, I hope to pursuade Dad to drive me to book-haven:
Hay on Wye - a quaint pretty town full of second-hand and specialist bookstores with bargains and rareities. Too appealing! I also intend to play with my new camera lots and test its many different settings...I may also get chance to play with the macro and light settings/white balance etc round the house/park a little this week.
Oh, and my new icon was taken from a Victorian-themed party my good friend Aki hosted in November. I am proudly wielding a glass of French absinthe, as well as a live roleplaying long-sword (randomly! But oh the fun we had...), which can only be seen on the full group photo, which I may post soon...
