Hello, this is Tegoshi Yuya!
I'm writing this in between magazine interviews!
We're in the rainy season, it's raining so much that I feel quite low spirited..
But once the rainy season ends, my much beloved summer season will start! I'm looking forward to it.
Today's theme has to start with Re/Le.
Reds. Leonardo. Remy Bonjasky.
legend. Let's go with this.
Did you watch The Music Day? I was really grateful for the opportunity to sing 6? songs.
One of which, I had to invest more of myself in.
Kurenai
It was really something. This challenge. X JAPAN and ToshI-san, the artiste I most respect, and who had heavily influenced me as a vocalist.
And of X JAPAN's wonderful songs, the one that to me, is the hardest to sing. Kurenai.
Japan has many songs that have high notes partially. But Kurenai has high notes almost throughout the song, which makes it super hard to sing.
When I received the offer to participate in the High Pitch Medley, there were other songs that I could have chosen. But this might be the only chance in my life to perform a song by the artiste I most respect on a live show hosted by Sakurai-kun.
If I had to regret something, I would rather regret performing the song, than regret not taking up the challenge.
So I chose to perform Kurenai.
Naturally, I don't think I did full justice to the song. But I'm confident that my rendition was heartfelt, steeped in my love and respect for this song.
Now I really think Kurenai was a good choice. During the ItteQ recording after The Music Day, many of the ItteQ members and staff said to me 'I watched it! It was good'. I was happy to receive so much positive response to the performance.
I want to keep improving, I want to sing a duet with ToshI-san someday! My desire to sing with YOSHIKI-san's accompaniment on the piano became bigger! To fulfill this dream, I have to work harder!!
I will work harder to become a better vocalist!! Writing this here because I believe that stating my dreams will help make them come to fruition.
Returning to my roots, I have nothing but gratitude towards Johnny-san, who was the one who recognised my singing and included me in NEWS with the hope that I would change people's perceptions of Johnnys' singing.
The first song I sang in front of Johnny-san, at a karaoke, was an X JAPAN song too. Forever Love.
He said to me then, YOU, you're really something. I somehow felt it was fated.
He bravely chose me, me who was only 15, good at nothing but soccer, and had hardly any experience as a Jr.
Probably there were staff or fans who felt that someone more famous should have been included instead.
But perhaps Johnny-san, in his own way, felt that the risk was worth taking.
He saved my life and made it brilliant, it is all thanks to Johnny-san that I lead such an enjoyable life every day. Regardless of what people say, this to me is the truth.
From now on too, I'll work hard as artiste and vocalist Tegoshi Yuya, whose singing will be deserving of Johnny-san's 'YOU improved'.
Knowing Johnny-san, he'll watch over us, smiling from heaven.
To the world's number one producer Johnny-san, pioneer who faced all challenges with everything he had.
Do have a good rest. Sometimes, it's important to just rest and not think about anything.
