Okay, Houghtonites who care, be proud of me.

On Thursday, I went skiing at Peek'n'Peak. It was an adventure. Rough day at work and came home exhausted. Jay left a message to call his cell if I wanted to ski since he went out there about 1pm. Dad told me my life was empty and meaningless, so I should go. I told him he couldn't guilt trip me for a whole week about the pathetic state of my life if I went. Met up with Jay about 7:15pm or so. Rented some equipment and got a lift ticket ($47). Braved the hillls. Nice little place. Granted, only the second ski resort I've been to, but it was great. I remembered how to ski fairly quickly and got some quality time with Jay, which doesn't happen often. It snowed about 8 inches while we were there. Left about 10pm. Couldn't make it up the hill outta the Peak, since some idiot truck decided to stop in the middle of the hill. The hill was covered in ice. For those who have experience with standard cars, you know that you need some sort of friction or traction to make it up hills. Yeah, I didn't. Almost slid into Jay's fiancee's car... twice. Ended up side-ways across both lanes of traffic and almost in a ditch. Finally, just went back to the parking areas and gunned it up the hill, praying the entire time for no cars to be in the way. It was snowing so hard that I couldn't see more than about five feet in front of my car. Made the 7.8 mile ride home a blast... and a half hour long. And of course the plows hadn't been out, so I was plowing my way through those 8 inches on the main road and trying to not spin outta control on curves. Snowbelts. Gotta love them. I'm getting so much better at this winter driving stuff. Oh, and did I mention that my windshield wiper holder had rusted off and was scraping the windshield. And I couldn't find a place to buy replacements? Yeah, a good time was had by all.

Seriously, totally worth it. Plan on going again soon. Jay and I had planned to go together at some point this winter. Not sharing an adventure without health insurance when we live that close to a ski area is just ridiculous. Good times.

PS - Found a replacement for my windshield wiper today. And all is right with the world again.

PPS - I slept 13 hours last night. It was wonderful.
