Recent textile haul
Kimono have sparked my sudden (and rapidly escalating) textile obsession, but um... I'm enjoying it. I picked up some nice things lately, and I thought I'd share them in case anyone else watching drools over this stuff like I do!
This ikat fabric from Bali is sooo beautiful, the photos don't do it justice. It has that nice chameleon effect (it looks turqoise one way and purple another), plus some gold threads around the edges. I'm really into gold right now, I don't know why. It suffered a pulled thread in transit though (on the left, in the purple area) and I'm not sure what to do about it yet. :(

Cheap silkscreened sarong, but I really like the pattern.
More cheap Balinese fabric, but with lots of gold thread.
A vintage fukuro obi (formal obi). I'm not sure if the "cloud" shapes are supposed to be pine branches (most likely) or clouds (really unlikely) but I like it either way! Silver and gold thread. I looove it.
