I've just had a mammoth trying-on session of my sister's old clothes. I <3 hand-me-downs. Although technically they're hand-me-ups, coming from my smaller, younger sister. I've acquired lots of tops, a skirt, a pair of cropped cargo pants and a few pairs of jeans in the transaction. Now I just have to find somewhere to put them all!
I'm getting rather pissed off with my bloke. He keeps cancelling our weekend plans, but never until it's too late for me to arrange to spend time with my other friends. The whole reason I said I'd only do one shift a week at the bar was specifically so that I still had the time to see him! Grrrrr.... And, to add insult to injury, he didn't appear to be listening to me when I told him my latest news - that I'm buying specs this weekend and going to my grandad's funeral on Tuesday. Instead he went quiet then said he'd been distracted by someone and rang off. Maybe he just can't handle. Well, f*ck him.
I've been baking this week! I made blueberry muffins on Tuesday. They never turn out quite right. Perfectly edible, but just...not quite right. Maybe our baking powder's past its best. I tried shortbread last night. Unfortunately our fan-assisted electric oven is extremely powerful and recipes don't tend to account for that.... The end result was a block of charcoal and a very smoky kitchen! Tried again tonight. It looks gorgeous, but it's not completely cooked all the way through. ^__^ Third time lucky?
My boss seems rather keen for me to get "in" with the management types in the prison. There are several graduate recruitment schemes that the prison service runs. So, he's arranged for me to attend and observe the senior staff meetings every weekday morning, so I can meet all the governors and HODs and get a feel for how the establishment all fits together. That's going to be a rather nerve-racking experience for a Monday morning! I just realised that I never told my line manager that I need Tuesday off. I told her boss (the guy spurring me on) but she was away three days this week and I lost track of whom I had and hadn't told.... Oops.
