got nothin' to lose but time

Monday morning is here again.  My roommates are in class, the campus is quiet, I have a cup of coffee, and I couldn't be more grateful for the solitude.  Last night, I was in serious freak out mode about all that needs to be done before the semester is over, but before I get to that, let's recap the weekend.

Mom and I left early Saturday morning for Ventura. It's about a two hour drive, but always seems so much shorter when Mom and I gab the whole time.  I'm so grateful for these times with my mom, when it's just us and there's nothing to do but talk and and enjoy the beautiful scenery. We visited a long time family friend (from whom I get my middle name, Janine), and upon arrival, enjoyed an amazing home-cooked breakfast.  Her daughter Jessie and granddaughter Madeleine were there as well. In case you were wondering, there's nothing in this world that's cuter than an 18 month old.

After spending some time with them, Mom and I checked into our hotel, which was beautiful and situated with a great view of the ocean.  Later that afternoon, we met up with the clan again so that I could take pictures of Maddie for my photography class. Babies are not easy models, especially when the little munchkin is a perpetual motion machine, but I think I got some great shots and I can't wait to see how they turn out.  We then enjoyed a delicious dinner on the pier at our favorite seafood place, and proceeded to conk out in our hotel room.

It was a great weekend, and I really enjoyed having time away from Beta, the show, school, etc. Of course now, everything is hitting the fan, and as I mentioned, last night was the closest thing I've had to a panic attack all year. So I gave myself the night off, knowing that everything will get done and no matter what, in 60 days, I'm going to have a degree in something I absolutely love. It's going to be ridiculously hard getting there (it has already), but it will. get. done.

Enough of that emo-ness. It's a beautiful day, and I'm going to try my hardest to focus on all the great things happening in my life right now in hopes that I'll gain a little perspective. For instance, this rockin' cup of coffee that I'm about to refill. Or the fact that when I look on my weather widget for Redlands, I see sunny skies and temperatures in the 70s all week. Or the fact that tonight I have no Beta responsibilities and no rehearsal and all the time in the world to work on this beast of a Faulkner paper.

Yeah, it's going to be a good day :)

blah, travel, my so called life, u of r
