So my 7th period is my "Class from hell." I have done everything I can possibly think of to get them in line, nothing works. Today, 2 days before winter break, they are worse than ever. I tried and tried teaching this afternoon and finally got so frustrated I threw up my hands and declared that "I give up!" I wrote a list of things that needed to get done before break on the board and told them that they could choose to do them if they wanted to, or to not, I wasn't going to continue yelling and nagging to make them.
They freak out, don't know what the hell to do with themselves. They're on the verge of desperation, and I'm not breaking down. Finally one student calls me over and starts singing "Baby come back! You can blame it all on me..." It was the most damn hilarious thing I'd ever heard! It didn't make me change my mind, but it did help ease the tension...
