Continued from Here

My eyes narrowed at Cordelia's words. I wasn't looking for approval in the way she meant it. I was making sure there would be no miss-communications between any of us. There were lives at stake here. I wondered if it was the fact that the Sunnydale contingent was here which made her so on edge, or if it was everything. It's not as though I'd really know now is it? It wasn't all that long ago that I've gotten 'back' go this team myself. And even then I still had my doubt about really being back. Or merely being allowed around as a necessity.

Rolling my eyes at her obvious show of display, it seemed some of us either didn't change or reverted back to whom they once were around certain people, I slid around her stepped down the stairs. "If your Majesty is done snipping at the air around her?" I muttered, not really care if she'd heard me or not. That had never mattered. There were plenty of times, long before the whole...Connor debacle, when I missed those bicker matches we used to have. When exactly did I loose her as a friend? When she and Angel were eying each other yet never dared to move? Before that?

At any rate, there was no time to think about that. My eyes narrowed as he trotted down the stairs into the dark. After working so long in the dark, my eyes adjusted easily to it. There were sounds coming from further below. Almost as though someone, or several someone's was breathing heavily. Considering the nasal way of breathing those demons upstairs did, I was thinking that it wasn't a rat with a cold down there. Or even an entire group. The grip on my gun tightened while I bend down and pulled a long knife out of my boot.

"Keep your eyes on the left, I'll keep my eyes on the right," I whispered at Cordelia who was right behind me. Sword in hand, looking ready to err...'kick butt', as they say here. "They seem to be able to transport their way out, so be fast and...." Which was as far as I got when suddenly I found myself flying through the air and hitting the opposite wall. Ah. I suppose I should've kept an eye on below the stairs as well. Ow.
