Finally, there were some voices Levy recognized!

She didn't know exactly how long it had been since she'd awoken in her own holding cell. It could have been as few as ten minutes, she supposed, but the exceedingly disturbing noises that were echoing down the hallway seemed to make time stretch on in an aggravating way.

The first voice was certainly Natsu, and it were going to start arguing. If they were nearby, maybe things weren't as grim as they'd first appeared.

It still wasn't quite clear what had happened to their group, but being separated and unable to use her magic had rattled her confidence. Adding to the creepiness factor of the room was the fact that her jacket, though warm, had acquired a strange stain on the back that seemed eerily similar to blood. It wasn't her own, fortunately, and hopefully it wasn't from any of her teammates either.

Her own cell was just as nondescript, though she'd pocketed some glow sticks that were stashed in the drawer of a desk. Even if she regained her magic abilities soon, they still might be useful in a pinch.

She'd kept herself quiet, doing her best to analyze the situation she was in rather than panicking. After all, wasn't it her job to be the logical one? The others hadn't even bothered to dress appropriately. It took a lot of courage, but she walked to the door to her cell and stood on her toes, peering out of the window as well.

It was true that whoever they'd run into might be attracted to the yelling, but hopefully the dragon slayers could handle themselves. But, what exactly was happening?

Was that Philip they could hear?

After he heard Natsu's voice breaking through the horrible background noise of someone's suffering, Gray felt his chest become lighter. Even Gazille's remark made him feel slightly better than before, now that he knew two of his team mates were safe.

He still didn't know about Levy's whereabouts, so he moved back to the door, peeking through the small window. He couldn't see any of his friends, though for a moment he thought he saw blue hair moving about behind a door in front of his.

"Guys..." he started, trying to keep his voice down, yet still making sure they could hear him, "We gotta get outta here, but I can't break this damn door down. Any idea on how we can escape from here?"

Gray was okay too!

Since they seemed for now to be safe from the attention of their attacker, attackers?, Levy grew courageous enough to call out to the others. She was fairly sure that was the ice mage himself in the cell just across from her.

"My door's locked too, and I don't know if there's anything that would work as a key." If none of the boys had managed to escape yet with the use of brute force, she surmised that they must be as powerless as she was at the moment. "But I'd really like to be out of here before our friend comes back." She's meant her comment to sound lighthearted, but her voice was still obviously tinted with genuine fear.

Though still standing by the door, she looked around the dank room once more with a frown of determination. There had to be a way.

Wait a minute, how had Gazille's voice come through so clearly? Despite noticing a speaker tucked away in a corner near the ceiling, it hadn't sounded like it was coming through an announcement system. No, it was, an air duct? Of course! She began to search along the walls and discovered a grate behind a bookshelf. A very sturdy, very heavy bookshelf. At least it was a start. She braced herself as best she could and threw her weight at it. If it moved at all, she didn't see it.

She sighed. So much for being able to escape on her own.

Whoever had been yelling in pain had fallen silent, but Natsu was happily surprised to hear from his friends at least. Except that Gazille had apparently decided that it wasn't cool to try and help dying people.

"You shut up!" He called back angrily. "You're stuck too right? So you don't get to throw any lectures around!" At this point he wasn't interested in being stealthy, or hiding from anybody who was lurking in the shadows. He wanted answers and was perfectly willing to start punching anybody who got in his way.

Even if Gray had claimed he couldn't break the door, Natsu refused to believe that such an obstacle would stand in his way for very long. Continuing with his attitude of not caring about how noisy he was being, he took a step back, winding up and gritting his teeth before throwing a couple punches of his own at the door. Despite the rapid attack, and even the kick that followed, he did little more than cause a small dent in the panel. Pain shot through his hands and he swore angrily at no one in particular.

If anything was going to break like this, it seemed like it would be the bones in his hands. He'd already managed to scrape his knuckles. What the hell was up with this place?

"Arrgh!" Feeling indignant, the dragon slayer took a moment to pace around the room, rubbing the knuckles of his right hand. His anger might have him feeling hot under the collar, but he actually felt a chill run down his spine. The surprise he felt distracted him from his emotional state for a moment as he looked at his arms and saw goosebumps. Cold? It hadn't seemed that bad before. In fact, he couldn't remember the last time he was chilled like this. It wasn't a good sign.

"What was that noise?"

The Tuurngait made its host move, a rotten human body that barely resembled a person anymore. It quickly got to the hallway where all the ruckus was coming from, the torch in its hand useless in such a well lit place.

It stopped and contemplated a door, ignoring all of the others. Without a single word, it punched the door with all the strength of the decaying body, though it was far more powerful now that it wasn't being controlled by a pitiful human mind.

It kept on hitting the cell's door until it caused a dent or two, but stopped before the door gave in under such brute force. However, it didn't move from its spot right away. It waited for something to happen, a sign that it could break into the cell and take care of whoever was in it.

If Natsu remained quiet, perhaps the Tuurngait would simply walk away.

For a brief moment, Natsu considered approaching it. Fortunately his survival instincts kicked in. Without any magic, there was no way he stood a chance against whatever the hell was waiting in the hallway.

Though he was standing a few feet from the door already, he slowly backed up toward the wall. Something wasn't right. The creature didn't make any noise apart from a sickening, thwacking sound that implied it had dented in the door with mere flesh. Why didn't it say anything? A vague outline in the window suggested it was human, but was that really true?

His uneasiness grew and he could feel his heart pounding in his chest. It seemed unbelievably loud. Whatever kind of disturbing powers this thing held, it had managed to scare away his bravado in mere seconds. It didn't even seem to possess any kind of magic that he was familiar with, so where was it getting such strength from?

He gritted his teeth, staring at the door with alarm. The handle didn't move, so maybe it wasn't actually going to make it inside. Maybe this was just a scare tactic to get prisoners to behave. Just a show of force.

Trying to reassure himself didn't help. This thing was clearly not in a good mood. He kept his mouth shut and willed the thing to lose interest.

Gazille was pleased to hear the rest of his team members' voices, but he sure was tired of hearing Natsu's already. Even though everyone seemed to be out of magic and facing an unknown enemy, he was still making a ruckus. The Iron Dragonslayer wanted to escape before the idiot would get someone's unwanted attention, but... it was too late.

While he was about to try and break the chair, he heard a loud sound coming from Natsu's cell. At first he thought the Fire Dragonslayer was punching the door again, but as he got closer to his own cell's door he realized the sound was coming from the hallway. Carefully, he looked through the small window, trying to get a good look of the attacker.

He could hardly believe what he was seeing.

Gazille blinked, shook his head and then looked again, pressing his forehead against the door. It had a human shape, but it had no clothes and the skin looked... rotten. When the attacker took a few steps back, Gazille ducked and took a step away from the door. He wanted to take a good look at it, but he also didn't want to be seen. If he remained quiet, maybe it would think he was still unconcious.

Eventually, the strange humanoid walked away. It barely made any noise moving, so they would have to be careful. That thing could get close to them, and they wouldn't even notice until it was too late.

Even though the encounter was... well, somewhat frightening, Gazille was glad it happened for two reasons: the first, because he finally knew what they were up against; and second, because someone was able to make Natsu shut up.

However, he should really hurry and get away. That monster knew that Natsu was awake, and it could come back to finish him off. So Gazille hurried to the chair and set it down, planning on breaking off one of its legs and use it as a wedge to open the ventilation's grate. The wood looked old and weak, so breaking it shouldn't be a problem, even considering his current state. It took him two attempts to break it in the shape that he wanted, but he could finally get out of here.

Levy had made some progress with the bookshelf, but not much. Maybe dragging it wasn't the way to go. She bit her bottom lip as she considered her options.

She could probably unbalance it and knock it over, but the resulting crash would be incredibly noisy. Plus there was no guarantee that the vent would be accessible afterward. Perhaps she could push it just far enough from the wall that she could fit behind it. She didn't take up much room after all.

A loud banging caught her attention and she looked over to the door immediately. It wasn't her cell that was being attacked, fortunately enough. Despite her curiousity, she couldn't overcome the wave of fear that accompanied it.

Whatever was happening out there, everyone had fallen quiet, and that never meant good news.

Her apprehension was at least enough motivation to get back to battling the shelves. Planting her feet firmly, she took a hold and gave a sharp pull. The metal feet squealed on the cement floor as they were dragged, but her adrenaline gave her enough strength to successfully move it! She could just barely squeeze against the wall, but once there it was easier to brace herself and shove the shelves again with her feet. Next it was a matter of how to remove the grate.

Hopefully she was the last one to do so. The others might be already waiting for her in the hallway by now.
