I was very psyched about the snow on Monday. AMDA cancelled all classes, which happens, oh, NEVER, so it was like a giant all day par-tay at the Strat. They even ordered free pizza for the ENTIRE building for dinner. It was a ridiculously fun. I made a few new friends, and generally had a great time.
However...
Snow melts.
(This may seem very obvious to most of you, but I feel the need to reiterate this point.)
The snow melted really fast this time. This resulted in giant puddles of slush. Think that doesn't sound so bad? Yeah, right. The word "puddle," although technically being the proper terminology, doesn't come near to describing what I experienced. They were more like ponds. Some were ten feet across and six inches deep. And, of course, the largest puddles were impossible to circumvent, and directly in my path. Fun and games. Although my boots are technically waterproof, that doesn't matter when the puddle is deeper than your boot is tall.
And the worst part? It's practically impossible to tell how deep the slush puddles really are, until you're up to your shins in gross, grimy, slush. At which point, why bother trying to avoid them anymore? The result of this mess Wednesday night was that Scene-Partner-Andrew (not to be confused with "Big Brother"-Andrew) and I had to rehearse in our bare feet, due to our socks being soaked. (Mother always said, "If your socks get wet, take them off, or you'll get sick.")
The slush became just water by Thursday, but that didn't destroy the lakes. Patti swears she saw a famed "Sewer Alligator" swimming in one. I thought I saw a subway rat taking a dip in another one, and I could've sworn there was another one sunning itself on the shore.
Anyway...
The puddles are mostly gone now, thank goodness. The family came in today, and we went to Olive Garden. I think I'll be full until tomorrow. After rehearsal, they whisked me away, and now I'm Home, Home Again. Yay!
