no sleep til brooklyn
post-xmas fiesta at my aunts' & uncle's on saturday. everyone was so generous. i don't know what to say. i'm not one to post lists of my l00t but i will say that i got what i wanted most. pictures shall come later.
yesterday i saw catch 22 with tina & yang; it was my third time seeing them, and i think they were the best this time, even if their lineup is different. it was a good show but i was on my period so i was crampy and tired most of the time. the first band, punchline were pretty good... emo/punk. i bought their EP at the end and tina & i talked to one of the guys in the band. he told us he still doesnt know how to play his instrument either. 'you can just fake it for a while.'
the second band was pretty bad. fallout boy. you know what i hate? dumb 'scene' kids who stand around trying to look cool the whole time. yes, fallout boy kind of sucked, but there was this one guy who just stood there with his two middle fingers in the air the whole time. get over yourself.
the third band was bigwig and they weren't half as bad as i expected them to be after laura's assessment of them. it was sort of confusing how half their songs were all hardcore and the other half were emo/pop-punk, though. they had a song called 'girl in the green jacket' and i happened to be wearing a green jacket.
between bigwig & catch 22 i had a crisis involving the girl working at coat-check who was a total bitch and wouldn't let me get a tampon out of my coat. i also fell on my back at one point in the skank pit, and all i could see was this slow-motion rush of feet like in a movie, and i thought oh shit there are no nice people at shows anymore and no one is going to help me up but then i was rescued by a kid with a mini-mohawk.
a girl tried to crowdsurf in a skirt. pure genius.
catch 22 played '12341234' last like always, and i was over on the side where there was a platform leading to the stage, with bars across it. but i figured out i could squirm under the last bar, so i went around the thing and got onstage. woo! but the security guards dragged me off, of course.
tina got yang to skank and it was silly.
i have to go to work now.
