There are so few decent horror fics in the Torchwood fandom and this is just wonderfully creepy and dark. Jack becomes affected by something that comes through the Rift and becomes determined to protect his team at all costs - even if that involves locking them in the Hub and killing them.
Jack is terrifying in this - competely psycopathic whilst at the same time entirely believable. The sequence where he calmly discusses whether torture or death is the best route to take to keep his team in check is just chilling. As is his treatment of Ianto - so assured is he that Ianto is his that Ianto's consent is no longer required. Horrific without being over the top this is a well written and strongly characterised piece with Ianto coming off especially well - his despair at the circumstances in which he hears the one thing he's always wished for is heartbreaking.
