My helmet is just for me, it is not for everyone

A blast was had at the Opulent Temple fundraiser last night. After some lovely hangout time with Val and Clara, Josie and I dusted off our neglected spacey costumes, applied glitter, and headed out.

We were arguably the most spacey people there. Most people were rocking whatever dusty playa wear they could find, which is fine, but I really appreciate it when people actually make an effort at themed events.
I brought my helmet, a big, plastic bubble with a drain cover for a mouth vent, curiously the reaction I got most when I was wearing it was people knocking on it. I responded likewise and knocked on their heads. Then people would act slightly sheepish and try to start a conversation which I couldn't hear at all through the helmet.

I'm usually not much for the techno parties, I would really rather dance to songs I know, songs with lyrics, but the Opulent DJs were really great on the playa and were good last night too. It was a little weird to try and recreate the playa vibe indoors, but good fun none the less. The only thing that would have made it better was seeing more of our wonderful friends out. Josie and I kept saying, "Wouldn't it be great if ___ were here" or "We should have told ___ to come." Some of those blanks could have been filled in by YOU peoples! Maybe next time? Yes?

In other news; I am taking a class on needle felting next month. As far as I can tell, you take a hunk of wool and poke at it over and over again and it turns into a thing! Very exciting. Castle in the Air in Berkeley has some other classes I am interested in such as reliquary jewelry and some bookmaking classes. I heart bookmaking. I heart paper ephemera! I heart you nice people!

I go sweep now.

Baragon is the cutest Godzilla movie monster ever.
