Chaffey College sucks! I got a call about a month or so ago from the financial aid office at my school. They told me that I had been overpaid in my Cal Grant B and they had just discovered it through an audit. My award letter was for the full amount, so when I received the money, I didnt know there was an issue, or I wouldnt have used it for expenses. They said I had to pay 388.00 back. I told them okay, but I am a student, a parent and I only work part time. I asked if I could make payments, they said no you have to pay in full but pay when you can. I figured that I would either pay them back when I got my tax refund or when the next Pell grant came in. I got an email today saying that my college registration is blocked until I pay the total amount. This means that I can't register for classes, and I wont be able to finish my third semester of nursing school unless I can pay them. The problem is that paying them would break me right now, and I would not even have the money to pay for registration. I am sooo mad, this is their fault, and I have to pay the price. I will be soo devastated if I can't go back for my last semester. I am going to go and try to talk to them tomorrow, but I kinda doubt they will work with me. I could pay part of it, I could even see them holding my transcripts until it was paid, but why my registration. I am just so floored right now, I worked so hard for this and now its crumbling right before my eyes.
