Hey Everyone, Sorry I don't post here much anymore, just been soooo busy lately. Nursing School is going ok, although it isn't without it's stressors. Most of my class bombed the test on the Gastrointestinal system. One girl got an 80%, a couple got a 75% (lowest passing score in these nursing classes) and the rest failed. I got a 91%. My class is really upset by this, even the people who normally do well, did not do so well on this test. They feel like the teacher did not adequately cover the material (It was on nine chapters and about 700-800 pages of material) They also feel that the reviews we did were not covering the kind of questions that were on the test. I see where they are coming from, but with that many pages there would have been no way to cover them in the 12 total hours of class time we had before the test. I do agree that most of the questions on the review were not relevant to the test, but I'm not sure what is to be done about it. The class is also mad because the teacher said "I am not throwing out the test, because some people got A's." There was actually only one A, mine. I never thought I would actually feel guilty about getting a good grade, but I kinda do now. They told me that I am the president and I should say something? Huh? The president's job is to organize everything for our pinning ceremony and graduation, all the fund raising, food, site, decorations, etc. I believe that the only way that our teacher will even listen to their grievances is if they come to her individually and speak to her in private. I also think we need to take a good look at ourselves, I missed more on that test than I normally do, and I came to the conclusion that there were a couple of areas that I did not study enough, and it seems like the majority of the class did the same thing. I know this test brought a lot of people down to less than passing, and if they don't bring the grade up they will be dropped from the program, I don't want to lose anymore people, but I also believe that we have to either deal with the problem or move on. In other news, Riley is doing really well, he is eating alot of his different pureed fruits and even has been eating other types of things such as trix yogurt and vanilla pudding. He is putting things like goldfish and fruit snacks in his mouth, so this is real progress for him. He should be getting his mic key button placed soon, they want to do it in the endoscopy lab, so he can be sedated and it isn't so tramatic for him. Jason is recovering from his extracorporeal shockwave lithotropsy and urethral stent placement. Heis still grumpy and trying to pass those stones would probably make me grumpy too. He gets the stent removed on Friday, and he couldn't be happier. We just hope that he doesn't have to have it done again. Only one more month of first semester nursing school, then summer break, and my vacation in July!! Hurray. Hope all is well with everyone, I will try to update more often, but it gets difficult with all my studying, homework, life, etc and so forth.
