How time flies....

Hrmmm, I haven't been on here for ages! Facebook has been a very distracting influence - I guess the interactivity of it is more rewarding.... Flicking over the last few entries in here has reminded me that *heaps* has happened since then. A quick recap:
- After entering the WA heats for Miss Pole Dance Australia, I busted my ass for a month choreographing and rehearsing a Japanese geisha themed routine to "Confide in Me" by Kylie Minogue. It was certainly a steep learning curve. Steeper still, was being thrust from the amatuer section into the professional category one week before the actual competion, due to the low number of entrants. It was such a scary/exciting/thrilling/etc night..... The video of the routine is on facebook! (haha)
- Another performance of sorts was the big Showcase Music Concert for school at the end of term 3. Lots of planning to do, but not as full on as the crazy extravaganza that was the music concert of 2006 (a year's experience goes a long way). During the day, I wanted to rip my hair out at stages, but it all came together that night quite nicely. My lovely year 12s gave me flowers and chocolates and a lovely card (in which two of the boys wrote me propositions... hrmm).
- Things with mother dearest were driving me insane. She ended up sending me to a psychologist to sort out "my" problems of being tolerant towards her. So I went, told the psych how I was intolerant because I got pissed off at mum snooping through all my belongings all the time, and had the psych tell me I was quite justified to do so and that she was telling off my mum for not respecting my privacy. It actually ended up being quite a worthwhile experience. Mum is still (and probably always will be) a crazy asian mother, but she's toned down a fair bit since the psych, and I received the justification that I wanted to hear about the true status of my "tolerance" as such...
- Back to pole dancing; I also entered the extreme category of the Shestruck pole fitness competition put on by Shemoves last November. Came up with this awesomely, awesome routine and costume to the Roxanne tango from the Moulin Rouge soundtrack. It was such a great night, the routine went off swimmingly and I was awarded first place in my category, so now get to carry the title of "Miss Shemoves Extreme 2007" haha. Again, video of the routine is on facebook! :P
- Met a lovely boy around this time too. I remember because he came to Shestruck as a surprise, which was a fortnight after we had our first ever conversation :) We officially became an item on the Saturday of the federal election, after we discussed whether we should "update our relationship status on facebook" lol. After feeling cautious, became quite besottedwith the Boy, and I was subjected to much teasing by friends at school and friends in general, but didn't care in the end. Became even more besotted with the Boy and loved every minute of it *blushes*
- End of school year approached. Was much hullaballo about the status of my employment for 2008, due to political issues that arose just before school closed. Was given a semi-farewell at school and didn't know whether to clear out my office or not. Long story short, after much to-ing and fro-ing (including being given a new contract for somewhere else) I finally found out I could stay at the same school ...one week before term started. That's government efficiency for you. :/
- More pole dancing. I participated in the Bobbi's Christmas show which was just a blast!!! Lots of pictures on facebook (and when I finally get the video, that will be there too!! haha).
- Finished my last Kodaly Summer School in Brisbane in January. Thank. God. Period. I equate it to musical torture. Normally, I hardly ever cry - but there, my conducting lecturer made me cry three times (and just made me feel totally crap for another large chunk of the time). Now I am officially halfway through my masters degree, and if all goes well, I'll finish the dratted thing by the end of the year. *fingers crossed*
- Came back from Brisbane, via a retail therapy weekend in Melbourne, looking foraward to see the Boy that I'd missed... only to find out that he hadn't missed me. Felt very sad. Tried to cheer up Boy from being cranky and overworked, but didn't seem to get very far. Felt like crap because I didn't know whether the Boy even wanted me around :( Finally had a "serious chat" and hoped that things will get better again. I was taken on a lovely Valentine's Day picnic (despite feeling very pissed off beforehand as I had not been told about it - surprises are not good and have the potential to backfire in these situations), so hopefully that's a sign of better times to come...
- Will be going on a two week holiday to the Philippines with mum and my brother the next school holidays, so less than 8 weeks to go! A bit worried about whether mum will drive me crazy in that time - my brother and I have made a pact for sibling unity throughout the trip.
- I have my first before school rehearsal for the year tomorrow morning. At 7.15am. I am not excited at all by this fact, indeed I feel quite the opposite. While I like my Wind Orchestra, I do *not* like the rehearsal time for it at all. Ugh.
I think this has brought me back up to date. So there you have it... Approximately 6 months recapped into a single livejournal entry ;)
(...now go check facebook for updates!! :P )
