Like lembas bread in the Lord of the Rings, the rain is never-ending at present here in France and it will continue all week long with temps dropping. I adore gray skies and colder temps but the constant rain/humidity gets into my bones and muscles which I am not a big fan of.
Having said that, today is my outing with my friend Alex and we are meeting up with a painter friend of his whom I supposedly met at a group exhibit we were both in a few years ago. I vaguely remember her but why not. We are going to grab some lunch and head over to Centre Pompidou - the modern art gallery in Paris that I am finally getting to after almost living here for 10 years. I think it just never interested me enough, especially if you take a look at the outside. I am not a huge fan of contemporary art so I am often where one will find the Old Masters - Renaissance art, Pre-Raphaelites...I think my taste in most art ends in the 1920s LOL. With some incredible exceptions, of course!
I am also working on Thursday. First model gig of the year and it's with one of my favorite small artist groups. They are comprised of artists over the age of 70 and while that might put some people off, I LOVE them and they are super-talented artists. They also appreciate me and I am paid well so what more can I ask for from a first job of the season?
I redesigned quite a few pendants and will list them on my jewelry site tomorrow - re-designed as in that I made these pendants when I first started making jewelry and as they didn't sell and I have looked at them myself saying "meh", I took the stones out and re-created pieces. Much better now, I think. As this is another year I won't be able to do a real Christmas market due to money issues and our uncertain living conditions, I hope to make a really good sale in my online shop...more to come there.
As for my photography, I will be published in another French publication called La Revue from an organization/maison édition called Corridor Éléphant...no idea how that name came to be but they are esteemed. I will have selected images of my Re-Wild series in it and I am happy they accepted me again (second or third time, I think that they published my works online). I am also going to have work in an actual exhibit in November and will find out more today (Alex is the organizer) of how many pieces because this will be an expense that I have to do...I really need to get work printed and framed. I need to get more in-life exposure..
And I know I have to show you guys the rest of my Brittany vacation photos. Next post for that.
