Edie took a moment to survey her load which consisted of four bursting and heavy bags, her purse, and her tool box. It was heavy, but she had at made it there at the very least. After a moment of pause she finally replied. "I ought to be fine, thanks anyways hun." And with the door kicked open and held by her butt she began her trek to the elevator.

Finally after a small pause she made it to his door, knocking gently with her foot to save herself having to put down anything else again.

Seith opened the door to see Edie laden down with numerous bags and immediately began taking them off her hands. "I could have helped," he protested feebly. "You didn't have to carry all this up by yourself."

He stepped back to allow Edie's entrance and moved toward the kitchen to start setting bags down on various counters. While the kitchen wasn't particularly large (because who really had a large kitchen in New York), the appliances were stainless steel and looked brand new. In fact, it looked as if much of the apartment had been renovated shortly before Seith moved in; something he'd actively been looking for.

"I was fine hun." Edie offered a bright smile as he let her in, allowing him to take a few of the bags moving into the kitchen after him with a soft laugh. "It would have been silly to make you come all the way downstairs. It's beautiful in here, how are you?."

Setting her tool box and one of the bags down onto the counter with loud heavy sounding thud. Finally taking the moment to rub her hands together blowing warm air into them. "I do wish the weather would make up it's mind.." She was already unbutton her peacoat, peeling it off with her scarf to reveal a surprisingly red off the shoulder cashmere sweater. "One day it's beautiful, the next it's the beginning of the next glacial maximum."

"I confess I haven't really been paying attention to the weather," he said, glancing back at her as he set the bags down. Actually, he hadn't been outside his flat much other than a few supply runs as he'd been busy unpacking and setting up his studio.

He moved forward to take her coat automatically and paused for just a moment, noticing, with a photographer's trained eye, that the particular red of her sweater was rather flattering on her. "That's a lovely color on you," he finally said, hand extended for her coat.

"It's been my latest preoccupation." Edie mentioned with a slight smile that only grew to sparkle across up to her ears when he complimented the sweater. Handing over her coat as he spoke. "Thank you! My friend made it for me, he'll be happy to hear you think so."

Brushing her hair from her face, Edie quickly made way into the kitchen an eyebrow raising to challenge him with a wry smirk. Dipping into the first Whole Foods bag to pull out two rolled up cook's aprons. "So, hungry?"

"Not yet, though I suspect that will change with the cooking." Seith hung Edie's coat in a small closet before joining her in the kitchen. His eyebrows rose at the sight of the aprons. "Don't think I've ever worn one of those before. Bit pansy, yeah?" Not that Seith was a textbook example of overt masculinity, but it was the principle of the thing, wasn't it?

"But if you think they're absolutely necessary..." he said, doubtfully.

His comment left her to smile as she rolled her sleeves up to her elbows before tying hers around her waist, a soft if not slightly teasing laugh bubbling out of her as she pulled the bird out of one of the bags. "Are you calling me a pansy?" It came only with a challenging lift of her eyebrow that often was only ever directed at David Fisher and occasionally her room mate. If looks could kill, that honey hued gaze would have burned holes through the poor Englishman, though the crooked grin defied any sort of feigned ill will.

Try as she might, she simply couldn't pull off threatening to save her life; even with the large santoku knife that she was wielding at the moment. "It's not necessary, hun. Just helpful."

"You're a girl, so it would difficult for you to be a pansy, luv. You're supposed to feel at home with frilly things, aren't you?" He was obviously teasing, a tiny smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth. Lord he did enjoy a battle of wills.

"Well, I suppose I could be convinced he said slowly," a grin spreading across his face. "What sort of bargain's on the table?" Seith was nothing if not a flirt and years of practice had honed it to an art form. Oh, two could definitely play this game.

"Of course, though we generally keep said frilly things hidden away from view until an opportune moment presents itself." The knife had been settled down for a moment to make a small, if not slightly shy advance upon him. Flirting was something that Edie could certainly say she fell out of practice with long ago, but then there never had come an opportunity when the girl had even considered it.

Somehow it came back naturally enough in the battle of the aprons, stepping to her side to circle him with an appraising look. "Well as it seems to be your manhood that you're concerned with losing.." Edie came to stop, leaning her backside against the counter fingers brushing her hair back from her face, all the while trying to portray that general innocence that had left her years ago. "I suppose it would depend on what would help you reinstate it once you put said apron on.."

Oh, nicely done. Seith's grin widened as he studied Edie out of the corner of his eye. "That is an interesting proposition, luv. I think you may have convinced me, but I might need more evidence before I make up my mind." An eyebrow was quirked in her direction and his arms were crossed in mock-stubbornness. Dinner could wait. This was much more entertaining.

"May have?"

Happy to see her prowess had not disappeared entirely, all that his crossed arms received in turn was a curious cant of her head and an inkling of a feigned indignant pout. With every word that came from her, Edie felt herself filling up a bit more with confidence. Her back to straighten, and her shoulders to roll back a little; and they hadn't even started on the wine yet.

"And just what sort of evidence is it you're looking for?" Edie began as she pushed herself from the counter to brush past him lightly on her way towards his respective apron.

"Well you are the creative sort--or at least that's what you've led me to believe," Seith was obviously teasing, grin firmly in place as he turned to face Edie. "I don't doubt you can come up with something."

This was Seith's element. He'd been entirely too caught up in work the past few months to relax long enough to let old habits slip through. There was a trace of that old cockiness, a taste of the familiar excitement he got out of verbal sparring matches. It was a good sign that things were returning to normal for Seith.

"Although I may have some creative ideas, like frilly things they are best kept hidden away lest a girl find herself in trouble." The brunette already had his apron in hand, her heart beating about a thousand times a second, though Edie tried her very exceptional best to play it cool.

Perhaps the biggest problem with flirting was that one never knew when too much had gone too far. It was much like seasoning, in Edie's opinion- subtle and complex and just the right amount and one was set and ready to go. It was a dish one wanted to return to, too much and you were tired too quickly of it, if not completely turned off. Due to that, Edie found herself floundering just slightly for a moment.

Settling back, her gaze cast through that thick veil of lashes to observe Seith's reaction. Waiting to see which way her actions should go.

Unfortunately for Edie, Seith took her floundering for a polite change of subject and, being as he valued her as a friend and didn't want to offend her, he bowed out rather gracefully. "Not a very convincing argument," he cocked his head to one side, raising an eyebrow, "But I suppose I can give you a free pass this one time."

He extended his hand for the apron. "What shall we do first? I'm woefully incompetent in the kitchen, so simply point me in a direction and I'll do your bidding."

At the withdrawal, Edie seemed to deflate just a bit despite the smile that she kept on her face. Not a very convincing argument, oh that could be taken inf ar to many ways- the worst of which, and the one that the young woman was first to accept being that blow to her ego.

She surrendered, and the apron that had been stretched between her hands about to be wrapped around him was handed to Seith instead. Immediately, if not awkwardly turning to the chicken. Food. This was something Edie was actually good at. And she confident about.

Clearing her throat a little, she offered a simple grin. "We'll have you on par with Jaques Pepin before the night is through..if you'd like to maybe start slicing those lemons? Or would you prefer something simpler like preparing the butter?"
