Where: Watts and Hale's apartment, currently vacated except for their gimpy pet goat and his Indian princess

Luke finally hung up the receiver, though he suspected that his mother was still talking on the other end of the dead line. She got talky when she was nervous.
Why should SHE be nervous? he thought as he hobbled to the door. He opened it, and his smile was only a little forced when he greeted River. Not that he wasn't happy to see her - of course he was - but the knowledge of what he wanted to say seemed to have increased the gravity in the room.
"C'mon in," he said. "The Byrons are out of town, so we've got the place to ourselves."
