WHO: Townsend (The Miller's Daughter) and OPEN!
WHERE: Barnes & Noble, 54th Street.
WHEN: Thursday/Friday, shortly before midnight.
WHAT: Release party for Straw Into Gold: Witches & Wolves. Townsend's there observing.

Townsend had never been much for Valentines' Day - at least not in the past few years - but this had certainly been a great day. He'd spent most of it smug and reading things in the Compendium, online, talking to his publisher and agent, and then heading out at ten or so to see how some of the midnight stuff was going. As a casual observer. He dressed normally, opting not to dress up.

Unlike many of the people there. He definitely saw some people in bonnets, and dressed as various characters - little girls dressed up with pink capes on, guys in fake armor pretending to be Bridge Trolls. Townsend smiled a private sort of smile, leafing through one of the trivia handouts the employees had been handing out. Idly, he started to fill in the answers, leaning against the end of one of the bookshelves as the clock struck down and the excitement started rising.

He loved this. Townsend, obviously, wasn't in it for the fame. The fortune was pretty nice, but that wasn't really the reason. After all, hardly any books actually get published. This had been a stroke of luck, a complete fluke. If he'd wanted to get rich quick, the track would've been a better bet anyway. Even for Townsend.

No, it was something else.
