WHO: Elena Morales (THE ANT) & Noah Connell (THE WOLF)
WHEN: After he returns to NYC after Christmas
WHERE: Noah's office
WHAT: Administrative duties! Arch bickering! Business as usual.
RATING: To be determined
When Elena Morales tried the door to Noah's office, it was with a preconceived scowl of disgust that he wasn't there; it therefore came as a remarkable surprise that he was not on another coast living the sunshine dream, but was actually inside, diligently performing the duties of librarianship. The last thing in the world she'd expected that door to do was swing open when she twisted it. Her ears had been attuned only for the frustrating click of a little lock. It took a square second for her eyebrows to reconcile themselves from self-righteousness to shock to their cool, businesslike standard. At no point did it even occur to her to ask if Noah was busy, or... greet him at all, really. Instead, once the surprise had dropped off her face and her mouth had returned from a sheepish rectangle, she crossed the space to his desk with the click-click of business heels.
"Oh, you're here!" she drawled, "That's so sweet. Sign these." Her voice indicated that it wasn't sweet, and if he didn't sign those papers, he wouldn't be here either--here among the living, as it were. Nonetheless Elena had developed an aptitude for threatening his life without meaning any particular ill by it, and also without even mentioning it aloud. Much of their interaction was unspoken, and with sore soles, no soul, and low blood sugar? The less spoken, the better it was by Elena. She held the stapled stack of papers so that their far corners flopped down in front of him, displaying various checkboxes and dotted lines. She also held out a pen, which could have shown a helpful attention to detail, but really indicated--clearly and to the both of them--that she was quite prepared to have signed them herself. With his name. Extremely well.
