Neil and Harrison and Cassie -a little before 12:00 am one_fry_short May 3 2008, 03:25:30 UTC

Harrison laughed uproariously as Neil swished his cape. "Why are you talking like that?" he asked, his New Zealand accent not masked by any attempt to be German or Russian but slightly slurred by the alcohol in his system. "Oh wait, I get it. HA." He smiled and nodded as Cassie nudged him. "S'true. She's takin' good care of me," he said as he gently curled his long index finger and ran it along Cassie's side. "But I don't think I need t'be cutt off. I've only had..." He stared off into space for a few moments, trying to think. "I've had a few."

"Oh YEAH!" Harri exclaimed. "Neil, this is my Cassandra. Cassie, this is Neil McLaughlin." He couldn't say Neil's last name properly in his current state, but he gave it his best effort. "He's the one takin' me t'England tomorrow."

Upon hearing the young lady introduce herself, Neil's eyebrows shot upward and he grinned. "Cassie! So you're the lovely young lady that's captured Harrison's heart away?"

He glanced down at the hand, which was at a bit of an odd angle, and then he looked up at her face, realizing she was blind. Was this something Harrison told him about and he'd forgotten? Or was it the booze that made him forget? Without skipping a beat, he took Cassie's hand and instead of shaking it, he lifted it to his lips to kiss. He then slipped the rose he'd been carrying all night into her hand and leaned over to whisper into her ear, so Harrison couldn't hear, "You're a good influence on him."

Smiling, Neil looked over at Harrison again. "Going to England IF you can get up in the morning. I don't want you to miss this holiday!"

She shook Neil's hand with a great big smile on her face, "That would be me, yup." then she blushed when he kissed the back of her hand. She felt the rose that he put in her hand and giggled a bit, grinning at Neil.

"Well I try.." she whispered back to Neil. "Thank you." she ran her fingers over the petals. "I try.. it's not that hard.. most of the time," she teased. "I'm sure you'll both have a great time. And don't worry, I'll get him up. And if I don't, I'll make Argos come and lick his face in order for him to be up on time."

As Neil kissed Cassie's hand, Harri gave him a sweet, proud smile. This was a special moment for him; it felt as though he was introducing his girlfriend to his father. In many ways, Neil was Harri's father. He'd certainly been there for him more than his real dad. In that moment, the sparkle of tipsiness in his eyes was replaced with a look of real affection and happiness.

He watched them whispering to each other and didn't feel the pangs of jealousy that his Tale usually made him feel. For the first time, he really felt no reason to doubt himself or worry. It felt odd to him, but oh so good.

"Secrets, secrets are no fun unless they're shared with everyone!" he said playfully, winking at Neil and wrapping his arm gently around Cassie's waist, giving her a loving squeeze. He blushed a bit and took another swig of his drink. "That's true. Cassie has no problem getting me up."

The double entendre might've been an innocent slip of the tongue for Harrison, but Neil's filthy mind caught hold of it and caused his smile to hike up a couple of sly notches.

"I'm SURE she does." He gave an exaggerated wink to Harrison and nudged him knowingly with his elbow. "She was just telling me about somebody named Argos, licking you awake. Harrison! I never knew!"

Well it hadn't passed by Cassie either, but really she wasn't going to say anything until Neil brought it up. Her cheeks blushed bright red and she squirmed, deciding to take large gulps of her drink. That was just going to make her more warm, but oh well. "Hey!" she giggled.

"I'm very innocent, I can assure you.." she paused, "Okay well that's a lie.. really though it's him who's corrupted me, not the other way around. And Argos is my dog.. seeing eye dog.. and honestly, I think I'd rather me lick him awake then the dog.." which made her giggle and blush quite a bit more.

Harrison's eyes widened as he realized what he had said. "That's-- I didn't-- GAH!" He looked down, smiling and blushing in a way that was all too familiar to Cassie but new to Neil.

Cassie's words caused him to look back up at her with an adorably innocent expression. He giggled softly. "She's much more innocent than me. It's true, I have corrupted her. I'm evil that way." He smiled and, leaning close, kissed her softly on the cheek. His blush deepened at that last confession. "I'd rather you lick me awake too, luv. Argos drools on me and it's a bit gross. When you drool on me, it's adorable."

He smiled at Neil. "I'm lickable, apparently. Like a stamp."

It was amusing for Neil to see his fellow Wonderlander blush, and looking between the couple, he considered them as well suited. Listening to Harrison speak, Neil slipped a cigarette into his mouth and quickly lit it and remembered what he had told him on the compendium. There was always a chance the relationship wouldn't last for as long as either of them hoped - Neil's jaded experience taught him that lesson well - but at least right now they were happy together, and that was important.

"You're not a stamp. Stamps are square." Neil told Harrison this while using both index fingers to trace an invisible box between them, using the colloquial meaning of the word to tell Harrison in a round about way that he thought he was 'not a square', but 'cool'.

"Square and flat," Neil continued. "And you're definitely not flat. As one can plainly see, there's more than one dimension to you." Neil smirked, hoping that neither Harrison nor Cassie was too drunk to pick up on his double meaning.

Cassie pouted a bit, "I do not drool, and definitely not on you. Well not unless you bring home chocolate or something. Then maybe I'd drool, but I'll try very hard not to drool on you. Drool is not adorable no matter who does it, dear.." she teased back. "Okay now you're both being pervy.. not that I'm complaining mind you."

Speaking of drinking, she could really use another drink. She swallowed the last of what she had in her cup, "Would you.. get me another drink? I'd go but.. you're my designated steerer. I'm sure Neil won't let me get lost or knocked over."

Neil's 'square' statement did not go unnoticed by Harrison and he smiled appreciatively at him as he watched the imaginary square be drawn. "Thank you," he chirped sweetly, blushing a bit more. "I'm three-dimensional." He waved a hand back and forth in front of Neil's face to emphasize this fact, adding a "Whooooa!" for effect.

He giggled at Cassie. "I know you don't really drool, sweetheart. But you could and I'd still love you." Grinning, he kissed her cheek again. "Of course I'll get you another drink!" He carefully took her cup. "Don't go anywhere, I'll be right back!" He took a minute to give Cassie a kiss and beam at Neil before skipping off into the sea of people to fetch his girlfriend and himself some more lovely liquor.

Once Harrison had disappeared from view, Neil turned his attention to Cassie.

"He's head over heels for you, m'lady," he said plain and simply.

Watching Harri head off, she turned her attention back to Neil with a grin, "You think so? I hope so. I feel the same way about him. Honest. And I swear I'm going to take such good care of him. I really love him.. and he makes me very happy. I wouldn't hurt him.." she tried to assure him, since well Neil was Harri's friend.

"He speaks very highly of you," Neil replied. "It's as though he's become a changed man since he's met you. I trust his judge of character - I know you'll be good for him."

When it came to alcohol, Harrison was a bit, well, trusting. He never really stopped to question what was in what drink mixture or how it might affect him sooner or later. After refilling the what he assumed were cosmopolitans, he returned to Cassie's side and carefully handed her a cup. "Have you got it?" he asked sweetly, wrapping his other arm around her waist once more. "This is my last cosmo, I swear. At least I think that's what these are. I haven't really asked. But they're good anyway."

He took a sip of his own drink and smiled a cute smile at Neil. "What did I miss? My ears were burning a bit over there. Spreading rumours about me?"

"Yeah?" though it was hard to tell which part she was more surprised about. Either way she looked pleased, "Thanks.. I hope so.." she seemed about to say something else when Harri returned to the both of them. She felt the cup in her hand and smiled, "Yeah I've got it.. thanks.." she reached up and felt for his cheek before kissing him there.

"It really doesn't matter," she laughed. "I'll drink anything that tastes good. Ah we were just saying how cute you were, that's all." she gushed and teased at the same time. "I was assuring Neil I was going to take good care of you."

Harrison lit up as Cassie kissed his cheek. "You're welcome, darling." He grinned. "You should be careful. Where Neil and I come from, drinking mysterious things can be dangerous. Eh, Neil?" He winked at his friend. "You might end up ten feet higher than you were before. Better let me taste it first." He took a long sip of his cosmo. "Ahh...Okay, it's safe."

He blushed brightly. "I need taking care of?" His voice as he asked this was adorably sweet. "I'll take care of you, too. We'll take care of each other." He adjusted his ushanka before taking another sip of his drink. "And I trust Argos to take good care of you while I'm gone."
