She considered her answer for a half second before speaking, fingers wringing in nervous anticipation of her words even though her position was comfortable. When she spoke it was more about a memory than a dream, “Jennifer and I use to play in the park. In the dreams, it’s always hide and seek...and...I'm it.”

A hurdle leaped, and it required her to take a deep breath after finishing. Every bit of information she gave felt like a variable in an equation. The problem was that she was trying to give the answer before the question was asked. It shouldn't be what her dreams were about, but why she was having them. A question she tried not to think about.

Everything about her body language convinced Neil that he was on the right track, and confirmed that the dream was rooted in reality, possibly a memory that was sublimated and trying to get to the surface. A memory of something horrible that happened to either Amelia or her sister, possibly both. God, he hoped she wasn't raped as children.

Though Amelia could not see his face, Neil grimaced at the thought, but kept his voice steady. "You say this dream is a reoccurring one? Does the dream turn into a nightmare? Does... something happen... to your sister, Jennifer?"
