MY PEOPLES!
First off, the sap: you're all ridiculously amazing. FT turned out to be so much more than what we had ever expected it to be, and for that we can take very little credit. We all know the reason that it excelled was because of the unexpected bullrush of talent that showed up when we opened, and continued to flow in steadily throughout its run. When we began we never expected people to be as enthusiastic about exploring interpretations of fairy tales as we were, and the fact that people took to our forum with such gusto still makes me grin.
I want to tip my hat to my harem of glorious co-mods, without whom this endeavor never could have been achieved. I'm honoured to have been part of this team - working together has made us all even closer friends, and given me whole new insights into their collective and individual awesomeness. Frankly, I thought Julie was going to declare a coup and take over the game through sheer viking berserker force long ago.
My only regret is that I haven't been able to give these last weeks my full attention, and there's a lot of storylines that were never properly resolved. I wish life still allowed the time and energy for FT, but thus is not so - I'm still poking around a couple smaller games to keep myself from dropping out of RP entirely, and I want to keep playing with as many of you as possible, so if we're not already in a game together come poke me so we can work something out!
For this projected meme, I admit I haven't had a chance to collaborate with many people, so some characters have been ~arbitrarily~ sucked into the vision... If you don't like it, then tough!
Jacob Anser: Jacob's reign as Head Librarian lasted for perhaps another ten years, before he finally up and retired. Upon retiring he surprised no one by selecting Delilah, already the German Assistant Librarian, as his successor. He handed over the reigns begrudgingly and with little pomp of sentimentality, and continued to backseat-Librarian for years to come. Though they never stopped arguing, he and Danielle Fagan did eventually reconcile in their own manner, which nobody wants to think about, ever. It was tacitly known that for a brief period they were secretly back together, as noted by an eerie mellowing in his mood, before she up and disappeared again one day and it was back to Anser As Usual.
Murdock Varletti: Murdock continued to be a nuisance to the community in general and Velvet in particular for years to come, during which period he never held anything resembling an actual job. Eventually, after enough wheedling, Perry got him a spot as a competitor on a popular reality television show, for which he had to lie, charm and cheat his way to victory, which he did almost effortlessly. The grand payoff was a modest fortune, which he took and disappeared with from New York - and the community - for almost a year. Eventually he showed up again, penniless, and oddly changed. While no less rogueish, he seemed somewhat more grounded after having achieved his goals of wealth and fame, and devoted the bulk of his attentions to completing his story trinity, and wooing his princess. Without the two former desires competing for his attention, he managed to wheedle himself more permanently into Velvet's life - though never into the position as Assistant Librarian. He still never managed to hold down a proper job, but with begrudging tutelage from Perry became Velvet's unofficial manager, and devoted all of his attentions into getting her published. Despite never attaining an actual position, he developed into one of the Atheneum patriarchs and mainstays of the next generation. He spent much of his time mentoring new young Tales, most of whom had to be re-inducted with proper information afterwards. Still, his tall tales of the Old Days of the Atheneum were always quite popular. Also, he and Velvet had
two babies.
Easy Raub: Easy continued to terrorize the community for a few more years until he got another young Tale into serious trouble, a la Lydia. Although he avoided legal repercussions for the fact, a coalition was formed amidst the Tale community to finally deal with the Easy Issue, spearheaded by Delilah, as she rose through Atheneum ranks. Largely due to the Marie's resources (for the young Tale had invariably been one of her 'wards') Easy was set up, and caught in the possession of a large quantity of illegal goods. With Delilah on the counsel he was refused Atheneum amnesty, and wound up going to jail for a long, long time. His compendium was confiscated so he was unable to even continue his reign of lechery through text, though he remained in constant, secret written contact with Kelly Yates, in a correspondence that lasted for years, before he was finally killed in a prison brawl. By this time he was a mostly forgotten figure, even in the fairy tale community, and nobody attended his funeral. Or DID they?
John Fields: John lived a simple life, happily fulfilling his duties as the security guard, usually quite poorly. He held the position right into his golden years, and while his wits never improved, his strength oddly never decreased, and he remained a force to be reckoned with until his dying day - which occured while working in the Pentamerone garden, from a long-overdue heart attack. He passed with a smile on his lips, quite peacefully, for he ended doing what he loved: working. While clearing out his room a large and surprisingly good collection of introspective poetry was discovered.
Sebastian Han: Sebastian accomplished what he'd set out to, and completely bastardized the plot of Ribbon - unfortunately too well. It was universally panned by fans of the novel, and found to be superficial by his usual cult following. Naturally, he found a way to blame the Ozlings for his failure in the Hollywood world, and redoubled his efforts off revenge. After a plot left CJ mildly injured he was officially denounced by the Atheneum. He fled back to South Korea and declared himself emancipated from the Atheneum and the community, and refused to acknowledge its authority. A bitter feud followed in which he managed to stave off consequence through increasingly powerful magic for a while and attempted to court alliances from other magicians, rarely with any success. He grew increasingly embittered and paranoid, and began to descend into insanity, before he was found and mercifully killed by Tom, who had been after him for years.
