*gasp*

I was just reading the 'A Game of You' volume of The Sandman, and I was impressed that a work from the early Nineties actually had a relatively sympathetic trans woman character. I mean, the people around her, save her best friend Barbie, didn't always treat her the way she wanted to be treated, but she herself was painted as good and well-meaning, and those who made a big stink over her 'not really being a woman' turned out to be unsympathetic or ill-meaning characters.

This shouldn't be a shocker, but...considering how the media like to paint trans women, it is. (And of course, trans men don't exist in the same media, unless they're being rewritten into butch lesbians. *rolleyes*)
